  • Domestic Abuse Law Will Protect Pets

    July 3, 2011 at 11:31am

    In reply to ronmorgen.

    @ ronmorgen
There’s nothing unconstitutional about this. This is a state matter as it should be. A state senator wrote the bill, it was voted on and Perry signed it. Was it brought to the house rep’s first by the citizens, I don’t know.
Do we need yet another layer of laws when I’m sure there are already plenty of laws on the books regarding animale abuse? Hell no.
The problem is politicians want to make a name for themselves and spend their time thinking of new b.s. so they can have their name attached to some legislation.
We need rep’s from now on at state and federal levels that say their whole political exsistance is to weed out the unnecessary layers of laws and agencies and departments that over lap.

  • The republican nominee, no mater who it is, has a tough go. Not only does he have the dems that don’t look beyond the R or D label and place their faith and hope in a massively ineffcient and corrupt federal government that will vote against him, he also has people voting against him that are tired of politics as usual unless he demonstrates real reform. The only people the nominee can rely on are the repub‘s that don’t look past the R or D label. (although there is nothing under the D label worth voting for these days. JFK couldn‘t get elected by today’s dems)

  • @ ABC, Agreed. I’m tired of the politics of an issue as the determination of the discussion.

Particularly if you believe that the government set up by the wisdom of the founding fathers that keeps the power as close to the people as possible, that limits what a centralized government can do becuase they knew it would lead to corruption and loss of freedom, if you believe that such a system was the envy of all freedom yerning people world wide, if you believe those things and would like to see that power returned to the people that somehow now you are a racist and participate in the act of tea bagging.

Pap feeding journalists don‘t help but the problem is that most Americans don’t know where we came from. They don’t have a clue what the Declaration of Independence means. The American Experiment set forth is not right or left. If anyone calls themself a liberal they would be a tea party supporter, if they were honest, and get off of this right vs left b.s.

  • @JZS

Preserving the government set up by the wisdom of the framers of the constitution, wanting a federal government limited to the powers enumerated by the constitution that they SWORE to uphold is, according to you, fringe thought.

Placing faith in such a massively ineffective, corrupt den of thieves that will never reform this federal government because it would mean reliquishing power is, according to you, smart. Do you really believe that? Are the only smart people in Washington? Like the one’s who think islands can capsize? The lunar rover is on Mars? That think there are 57 states? You‘ll find those genius’ in both parties. They are smart only by means of amassing money and power through coercion by taxation and donations (favors) and not through creation of wealth and productivity. In other words a job that produces something.

The birther issue is not an issue as demonstrated by Brewer. It’s only an issue kept alive by pundits as a political tool.

Remarks as the ones you make truly show that you don’t honestly think independently. I try not to get into any name calling but you are duped (as I once was) or are a tool, willingly so or not. Your fooling yourself JZS. Your life and everbody elses life wouldn’t suddenly go into the crapper if you had to take up more responsibility on the personal, local and state level. Placing your faith in any political system that only seeks to enrich themselves and create dependency for future votes is foolish. Freedom: the maximum absence of coercion. It works for all people.

  • JZS, there has been some very good responses to your questions/comments but the true problem is that the federal government is spending too much money. Period. And most of the expenditures is none of their business.

For heavans sake, why do you think giving D.C. more money is going to change anything? We could give them everything we have and it will NEVER be enough. (look at education) Do you really trust them? Do you think this congress woman know’s better than you? Are you that gullible to buy into this “hate the rich mentallity”? We’re being played.

  • White Kids to be Minority by End of Decade

In reply to miles from nowhere.

I live in South Texas. Tell me something new.

  • Dittos 82nd.

JZS, you say your a liberal and I’m sure you know the root of the word “liberal” lies in the Latin “liber,” meaning free. In that sense I’m a liberal also. But where is freedom heading with this massive corrupt and wasteful federal government? I’m talking both parties. They cannot be anything but corrupt and wasteful with this much power and money flowing through their hands. If we get back to the constitutional limits no one has to worry as much about a right agenda or a left agenda at the federal level. That would be sweet.

  • JZS, I assume the tax breaks for the rich your talking about is the extension of the Bush tax rate, or cut depending on how it’s spun.

I think we can agree on some of this. These rich people you talk about are a bunch of “lefties” as well as “righties”. They have loop holes and tax laws written specifically for them by their politician that they have genrously donated to. Raising their tax rates or eliminating their tax breaks won’t bring in all the money people estimate that it will. They will simply find a way around it through new tax laws introduced by their favorite politician and or pass any extra cost to do business (taxes) on to the consumer, me and you.

We need a fair tax or consumption tax. I know there are pro‘s and con’s to that but this current 60,000 page tax code will NEVER be fair to the people that can’t afford that politician or tax accountant. NEVER.

And the problem isn’t so much a lack of taxes, it’s too much federal spending (waste and corruption). You’ll have better control and oversight locally. The way it was meant to be.

  • Where did dweebs post go? There was no reason to remove it. That’s b.s. If you don’t like it come up with an argument instead of removing it. You may have to do a little thinking however.

  • @ Dweeb

What were they doing? Hiding them, protecting them ( Corrie Ten Boom and others ), liberating them.

What were you doing? What’s up with your biggotry? I haven’t run across that perfect person yet, Christian or otherwise. Have you? Are you? Your hatred toward a group of people doesn’t say much about your character. One of these day‘s when you grow up you’ll realize you’ve wasted a lot of time and energy.
