Beck Asks if Ten Commandments Are Slipping Away From American Society
May 24, 2012 at 10:07pm
@Snooop1e:
I seldom rebut a rebuttal, but there are some things you intimated about me that I wish to set straight. First; I do indeed know the difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Testament is from the latin “testamentum‘ meaning ’covenant’. There is not time or space here enough to go into the details of what comprises a covenant, so suffice it to say that it is essentially a set of rules and boundaries that govern an agreement between two or more parties, in this case God and Israel. That God would allow the Gentiles into this relationship was not revealed until the Apostle Paul first spoke of it in Romans 16 and then in much greater detail in Ephesians. The difference between the OT and the NT is that Israel’s righteousness was determined by how they kept the law in the OT but changed in the NT to “Christ is the end of the lawfor righteousness to everyone that believeth” (romans 10:4ff) Hence, ‘the just shall live by faith’ which is in Habbakuk 2:4 and again in Romans 1:17. These scriptures are what started Martin Luther on his quest. At no place does the NT sanction a person declaring himself righteous apart from the atoning work of Jesus Christ, so I guess I am puzzled why you think that. The Christian is to live righteously; not done by taste not touch not, etc but by the faith of Jesus Christ.
Lastly the ONLY way to please God today is found in Hebrews 11:6 which says in part, “for without faith it is impossible to please Him..

@Snooop1e:
At the risk of opening up a can of worms, I would like to point out a few things re: your post. Firstly Martin Luther probably did sit on the privy more than once and if you know anything about revelation, it can and does come at some of the most unlikely places and times. The location does not negate the veracity of the revelation, however. (There is a great record in 2Kings6:17 where someone received revelation/spiritual insight while on the way to the privy. Hint: ‘going forth’ and ‘going abroad’ are hebraic expressions meanign to use the potty..)
Secondly I think it likely that Martin Luther lived into the 1600′s as he was born in 1483. perhaps a typo??
Lastly, those of us for whom you seem to have disdain, who have “believed on the Lord Jesus Christ” have not done so by declaring to God that we are saved by our own merit, but have in fact confessed the Savior from sin. Never mind that He said He did not come to destroy the Law, but to fulfill. What do you think He meant when at the end of the ordeal on the cross, He said “it is finished”? If the Law is fulfilled then what are you doing if you are not sacrificing in Jerusalem at the Temple and following every jot and tittle of the Law? Good luck with that one as Jesus Christ was the only one able to do it. We are free to love as Christ loved and to live as He lived because of what He accomplished for us.

@PDW:
Excellent post; the only thing I would add is that one can find all ten commandments embodied in the Church Epsitles (Romans-II Thessalonians) except for one. That one is keeping the Sabbath. Perhaps that is why so many do not want to accept the “writings of Paul” as they call them. Romans 14:5 says essentially that it is not required to observe one day above another, but the be fully convinced for yourself. The other “9” are of course wrapped into loving God wholly and your neighbor as yourself a.k.a. the law of love.

Gay Rights Activist Dan Savage Challenges Prominent Gay Marriage Opponent to YouTube Bible Debate
May 23, 2012 at 11:09am
The Books of Ecclesiastes and The Song of Solomon have much to say about human nature and marriage in particular. The reason gay “marriage” will never pass muster is that God is the one who ordained marriage to be between a man and a woman, with the intention that He would also be present in the marriage covenant. That is why it says in Ecclesiastes that a “three-fold cord is not easily broken”. Man-God-Woman; no manner of redefining marriage will ever get God to enter into ANY arrangement other than the one He has established. Homosexuality is nothing short of open rebellion against God and His precepts. There would be no profit whatever gained by “debating” this foolish man and/or his “husband”. The so-called ‘hate speech’ I have heard lately is coming from the militant gay end of the “rainbow” as it were. Savage is one of the spokesmen.
‘A Source of Pain’: Jesse Jackson Defends Rev. Wright Against Media ‘Degradation’ & Manipulation
May 22, 2012 at 10:56am
I have long wondered what half-baked organization “ordained” Jesse Jackson; they too, if they exist, will stand before the Judge for giving credence to a false prophet. “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture! saith the Lord.” (see Jeremiah 23:1ff) I seriously doubt that Jesse Jackson would recognise Jesus Christ if He walked up to him on the street. I also wonder if either these ministers know that there is an angel that goes with them and records EVERY word they say and that there will be an accounting for all of them before the Lord Jesus Christ. Should be interesting to see. My only prayer for either is that they see the truth before it is too late.
‘Not a Moral Book’: Atheist Richard Dawkins Supports Passing Bibles Out in Public Schools — But Why?
May 21, 2012 at 10:33pm
It would be poetic justice if Dawkin’s endorsement of placing the KJV resulted in a revival in England (which desparately needs it). Never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit to bring God’s plans to pass in spite of the oh so sublime efforts of the silly atheists to the contrary.
Dawkin’s problem and I suspect some of the atheistic posters here is that they all think they are smarter than God. For whatever reasons, they reject Him and God is a gentleman and so backs away from their lives. It is pathetically obvious that the atheist posters (or at least one in particular…) has not a drop of the love of God in them, as evidenced by the hateful and highly contentious manner used to “refute” those who disagree. But as they have to live with themselves, I submit that the “hell” they face is already here.
What Does Author Tim Ballard Say Americans Must Do to ‘Save This Nation’?
May 18, 2012 at 11:12pm
RE: Hialtitude;
Your comment that the only covenants God made were with Israel is not factually correct. The first recorded covenant God made with mankind was when He promised never again to allow the earth to be overspread with a flood. The token of that covenant is the rainbow. The 2nd recorded covenant is the one God made with Abram (who later became Abraham when God made an additional covenant with him; see Gen 17:1ff) None of these pertain to Israel per se because Israel had not been born. The covenants God made with Abraham have a great bearing on the Church today because they are the essential embodiment of “the just shall live by faith” as opposed to the Law.
There is reference to a “new” covenant that God would make with “His people” referenced in Jeremiah 31:31-33 which is the prophetic description of how God would deal with the Church and was fulfilled (I believe) on the day of Pentecost recorded in Acts 2:1-4. You can believe it or not, your choice.
There are two ancient covenants which have no recorded origin in the Bible but they are there if you have eyes to see and ears to hear. They are the covenant of blood (aka blood brothers, etc) and the covenant of salt. Both are embodied in what we call communion.
Maybe I have said too much or have bored you but my hope is that at least one person will be blessed by all this. As for Mr Ballard‘s book I would be glad to read it as I don’t see anything that would preclude God from working in (gasp!) a mormon.
‘People Do That Every Sunday’: S.E. Cupp Defends Palin Praying Against Daily Show Co-Creator
May 18, 2012 at 11:53am
Witchcraft is alive and well today and is being practiced by many people in high places. The art of concealment is something that “they” have perfected, so well that most ‘well educated, well meaning’ people do not believe that witchcraft exists. the cartoonish characters seen every halloween are not of course what they look like. If one defines witchcraft as the manipulation of people and events by whatever means available, especially drugs, and all for personal gain (incidentally that is a fairly accurate definition biblically speaking) then you need look no further than Washington DC to see some of the best at the “craft” as they call it. There is power in the spoken word and that is why the non-believing, unbelieving world is uncomfortable with prayer because it is the call of the faithful to God to intervene in the affairs of humankind. The spirit realm waits on the words of men and women to act. The Bible speaks of blessings and cursings; both come out of the same mouth James says. What a person utters gives wings as it were to which angelic realm gets to work. So, be careful what you say…
Moses: First Union Boss, Epic Community Organizer! Listen To Stephen Lerner’s Retelling of Exodus
May 15, 2012 at 10:57pm
Lerner is a very clever satanically inspired man who knows that most if not all his audience has little or no biblical teaching except what they have seen on television or learned by traditions like Christmas or Easter. Therefore he doesn’t fear being confronted with what the Bible really says, like the part that includes God in the record he wants to co-opt. I read somewhere that most of the ones pulling the strings behind the scenes are actually “luciferians” or those who believe the wrong “god” won the battle at Calvary. Time will tell and even the devil’s own abilities at deceit have fooled even himself. The Lerners of the world are in for a rude awakening, from which there will be no bargaining or threats of strikes or blackmail or any of the other tools the unionizers and community organizers employ. There is a lake of fire however for them and I for one will cheer as each of these murdering bastards does the ol’ swan dive. The best of all will be when old splitfood hisself gets pushed in.
