Silence Isn’t Golden: Audi ‘Composes’ Engine Noise for Quiet Hybrid and Electric Vehicles
April 10, 2012 at 12:20pm
The default engine sounds like one of the light cycles from the ‘Tron’ movies. I see that there could be a market for customized engine sounds, like the ringtones for mobile phones. anyone could customize their electric car to sound like any vehicle, past or present, real or imagined.
The only problem I see would be bureaucracy. I can’t think of any government official who would appreciate the randomness of a Roman Chariot idling next to an X-Wing fighter

Israeli Bill Would Outlaw Comparisons to Nazis
January 10, 2012 at 10:23am
It sounds like they are trying to attach penalties to Godwin’s law of Nazi analogies, which states that analogies to the Third Reich are to be avoided as they tend to detract from the actual horror of the Holocaust,. For example, referring to the overzealous soup server in Seinfeld as a “Soup Nazi’ would be a violation, whereas forcibly removing people from their homes merely because they are Jewish would not be.
Is Iran Trying to Launch Its Own Internet?
January 6, 2012 at 10:24am
It sounds like they are trying to set up their own hermit kingdom. The surest way to set up their ‘own’ internet would to cut off from the servers in the rest of the world.

One of the original concepts for the shuttle was to have a piloted booster which would glide back to the launch area after it had boosted the orbiter. Apparently those who held the purse strings thought that the expendable tanks and SRB’s would be cheaper.
