  • I sort of misread your post. But still it is a fact that the banks (+ savings and loans, where we do business) don’t have enough actual cash there ON the premises. I think it took us a week to GET our money out (speaking about inheritance here, the actually cash).

  • That IS a very sad fact! And that‘s what makes it so ’fragile’, just like most everything in our lives now days.

  • I think you mean not many of us ‘WERE alive last time’ (not ‘still’ alive). LOL Although it would be correct to say ‘not many ARE still alive’ since the last time also!

You are correct in what you meant to say. My parents both passed away during the last 3 yrs but while they were still here, over the years we heard PLENTY about the Great Depression and how hard it was to just live! Because of what they lived through they also appreciated EVERYTHING they had and took GOOD care of it, made it last. They knew the real value of ‘things’ and food, etc.

We could learn MUCH from our elders who literally HAVE ‘been there…done that’.

  • GRRR…… It irks me when characters run out!!

  • @cliffattheblaze……. You make some good points. My husband has been retired for 4 yrs now. We cashed out of the market (mutual funds) a couple of years ago when the market really plunged worse than we’d seen. And yes we were penalized but it wasn’t that bad. We’ve still got a lot in savings/checking and honestly it wouldn’t bother me to pull the majority of it out too but my husband would fight it. And I KNOW…. it will create interest but not enough to risk loosing most of it (IMO). But I just don’t trust the government and know a REAL run on the banks could happen any time. Hopefully there‘ll be some really good indicators and we’ll have a little time. And as has been mentioned our paper won’t be worth much if it all collapses but it should go a little way hopefully!

We have a heavily wooded quarter acre by a lake but haven’t actually prepared it for a dwelling, which we‘d need to do since it’s mostly an incline. Maybe we SHOULD consider that now! Buying up dried foods and canned is an excellent idea too but we still haven’t done that. My husband would consider all of that silly I’m sure and honestly storage space is a problem (but could be found). We are FAITHFUL Christians and KNOW that our God will supply, which my husband leans on more than anything. I have very deep faith too but am of the persuasion that God expects us to do what WE can also. So we have a bit of a ‘power struggle’ in those areas. :o) Anyway, I agree with you wholeheartedly and I

  • I don‘t know that it’s faked. As far as your ‘field of vision’ explanation trust me, some of us COULD zoom into the sky before an object entered the field of vision, especially someone with poor eyesight like myself. I‘ve actually ’picked’ a spot in the PATH of a plane, hawk, etc to ‘catch it’ as it comes into line with the lens. My intention then is to capture it as it flies INTO the camera’s field of vision and then keep it in focus and pan the camera as it moves forward. As I‘ve gotten older my eyes don’t respond like they used to so it can be nearly impossible to find the object (moving in the sky) as I zoom into it (by time I do the object has usually moved beyond where I zoomed to). So you see it’s NOT necessarily a fake because of how this video appears. It’s a hard fact of life that your responses change greatly as you get older and what seems so easily explained away might not really BE that simple (trust me, I know this from experience).

The noise on the video seemed strange to me at first since I thought drones were supposed to be pretty much silent making them hard to detect. But playing it again I think the noise we hear on the video is actually the wind over the mike. And it IS possible that this person was standing somewhere alone with no others close enough to him for the mike to pick their voices up. So like I said, maybe it‘s a fake but maybe it’s not. I just don‘t think it’s that cut and dried.

  • I agree with what you‘re saying except for saying we’d ‘return to morality’. That horse left the barn LONG before Obama became POTUS. American was VASTLY morally corrupted before that happened and perhaps God allowed Obama to BE installed as Pres. as a punishment for America’s moral decay (or at least as a wake up call). I DO feel it‘s far worse since he got in but let’s be realistic about the immorality in the U.S. Obama DIDN‘T ’bring it’. But he HAS ‘aided and abetted it’ and even PROMOTED it!

  • Frightening thought.

  • Typical Chicago style politics. You’re basically talking about criminals. And they get down IN THE MUD when they have to (well face it, they’re rarely OUT of the mud). I’d say this is pretty despicable and so very TYPICAL.

    It’s Obama BEING Obama.

  • I honestly don’t have a big prob with someone in the Whitehouse, etc not wanting it reported about the 1st families daughter’s vacation being broadcast. I can understand somewhat about the security risk for her and her friends. And considering how much security there was for her group it’s HIGHLY doubtful that they were ever in any danger, unlike we ‘regular’ citizens would most likely be if we were to choose to go down there. So that’s not an issue for me either.

BUT, what bothers me far more is not knowing WHO is paying for the vacation which includes all the high profile security. Are WE, the tax payers doling out for it? If that IS the case I have LOTS of problems with it! Does anyone know who’s paying for it (for ALL of it)?
