  • You are correct. The arsonists start the fire and run away. The firefighters come and get blamed for the fire.

  • Utah shows as the most religious state, but is also near or at the top in the nation for literacy. Not to bad on educational attainment either.

    http://www.utah.com/visitor/state_facts/general_info.htm

    Utah ranks 4th in the nation in the percent of persons 25-years and over who have completed high school – 91% (Census 1992, 1993).

    Utah ranks 11th in the nation in the percent of persons 25-years and older who have attained bachelor degrees – 27.9% (Census 1992,1993).

    In a national study, 94% of the Utah population 18- to 64-years-olds were classified as literate – the highest literacy rate in the nation. (State Policy Research, Inc., States in Profile, 2nd Edition, 1992)

  • Individualism, where did you learn sentence construction? I hope you aren’t counting yourself as one of the more “educated and intelligent people”.

  • Are you really that dense? I just quoted six New Testament scriptures. Do I have to quote them again or will you answer the question as to when Jesus died a second time and lost his resurrected body of “FLESH AND BONE”?

  • Attila_the_dummey

    If Jesus was resurrected with a body of flesh and bone, and Jesus is God (which he is), how is it that God does not have a body of flesh and bone? Else tell me when Jesus died a second time and lost his resurrected body.

    Luke 24
    39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
    42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
    43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

    John 20
    27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

    Matt 28
    8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
    9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

    1 Cor 15
    4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
    5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
    6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

    Mark 16
    16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

  • You should read the whole thing

    23 Ye were also in the beginning with the Father; that which is Spirit, even the Spirit of truth;
    24 And truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come;
    25 And whatsoever is more or less than this is the spirit of that wicked one who was a liar from the beginning.
    26 The Spirit of truth is of God. I am the Spirit of truth, and John bore record of me, saying: He received a fulness of truth, yea, even of all truth;
    27 And no man receiveth a fulness unless he keepeth his commandments.
    28 He that keepeth his commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things.
    29 Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be.
    30 All truth is independent in that sphere in which God has placed it, to act for itself, as all intelligence also; otherwise there is no existence.
    31 Behold, here is the agency of man, and here is the condemnation of man; because that which was from the beginning is plainly manifest unto them, and they receive not the light.
    32 And every man whose spirit receiveth not the light is under condemnation.
    33 For man is spirit. The elements are eternal, and spirit and element, inseparably connected, receive a fulness of joy;
    34 And when separated, man cannot receive a fulness of joy.

  • When you say Mormons believe Jesus was a created being what you are referring to is wrong. We believe he is an eternal being but was firstborn in the spirit and only born in the flesh just as the Bible says. Whatever makes up his and our essence has always existed. But he was a perfect spirit and part of the Godhead before he was born in the flesh. He is not his Father and that is very clear in the bible. Jesus can be and often is called our father through his part in the atonement and that God the Father gave us to him but he is not the father of our spirits.

    Doctrine and Covenants 93:29
    Man was also in the beginning with God. Intelligence, or the light of truth, was not created or made, neither indeed can be.

  • stew57, you and a vast majority of so called Christians do not understand a fundamental belief of Mormon doctrine. In fact you have it twisted 180 degrees. It all stems from your failure to understand even the first verse of the first book in the Old Testament.

    Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

    Two errors by creationists and main stream “Christians”.

    1) In the beginning of what? Time? Existence? Neither of those makes sense. It means in the beginning of this earth and those that belong to it. The other options are ridiculous to even consider.

    2) The word created was translated from the Hebrew bara’ {baw-raw’}
    Hebrew: verb
    Possible Definitions: 1) to create, shape, form

    Bara does not mean to bring something into existence out of nothing (ex-nihilo). God is eternal and so are the fundamental elements (and I’m not referring to the periodic table of the elements). God created us from that which is eternal. That makes us co eternal with God. Jesus was a spirit just as we were and all the “hosts of heaven” including Lucifer but Christ was the first born in the spirit and the only born of the Father in the flesh (into mortality).

    God is eternal.
    Christ is eternal.
    We are all eternal.

  • Closet Mormon? In Harry Reid’s case that makes no sense. Both deep down and on the surface he opposes the moral teaches of the LDS church especially when it comes to so called gay marriage.

  • Meant to say I fail to see how NOT defining down marriage limits your freedom of conscience. You can be just as deviant without it as with it. You obviously want others to accept your perverse lifestyle against their own free exercise of conscience which includes teaching their own kids what is right and what is wrong.
