  • Israeli Troops Battle Protesters in Syria, 20 Dead

    June 6, 2011 at 8:28am

    In reply to Ceefour.

There are reports of molotov cocktails being thrown. How could Israel possibly detect between the armed and unarmed? Maybe next time the Palestinians ought to protest naked, that‘s the only way I can think of to prove they’re not hiding weapons.

  • Could you provide a link?
I’ve heard of the extensive vetting McCain went through, even though both his parents were legal citizens. Even though his father was an officer stationed in Panama at the time. Even though his family is so illustrious they have a naval destroyer named after them.
I‘ve been wanting to read about McCain’s vetting for some time now but can’t seem to find a good site.

  • They wantonly destroy anything that isn’t “them”. These are the same people who blew up the Bamiyan Buddhas. What did that have to do with America or Christianity?

I wouldn’t buy a Koran until I knew who was profiting from the sale.

  • I was showing that there is no model of socialized medicine anywhere near our size that works better than what we have. There is no good example of socialized medicine in populations of over 100 million people. There is no example of socialized medicine working on such a large scale.Even at 90, 80, 70, 60 million – small fractions of our population -we still rank really high, The best we can do is experiment with socialized medicine on this scale, because it hasn’t worked yet. If I believed in your snotty “American exceptionalism” dig, then I’d be saying how America can succeed where Russia, China, India, Indonesia, Brazil and every other country in the world with a population over 65 million (except Japan), have failed so completely.

  • We are listed as 37th out of 190 countries, according to the WHO.
If you look at the list as a function of population we fare very well:
Out of countries with over 300 million, we’re #1
    200 million – #1
    100 million – #1
    90 million – #2
Population has to less than one third of ours before we’re knocked out of the number one spot,
and the countries (besides the U.S.) with over 100 million, where are they on the list?
    Indonesia ranks 92nd
    India ranks 112th
    Russia ranks 130th
    China ranks 144th
Pretty sure China and Russia have socialized medicine.
    Don’t know about the others.
It seems absurd to compare health care in San Marino, a country with 30,000 people to the U.S. Yankee Stadium would close down if only the entire population of San Marino showed up.
I mean imagine babysitting one toddler. Now imagine babysitting 3000 toddlers. That’s the difference in scale. Then to have the babysitter of one tell you they do a better job is ludicrous.
The logistics and demographics are not comparable.
How many people in Germany or France live 4 hours from a hospital? Probably none
    How many in the U.S.?
And the two large countries on the list, Canada and Australia, have less than one tenth our population. Canada‘s population is that of California and Australia’s is that of Texas.
Canada and Australia rank 30th and 32nd, respectively. I believe if their populations were increased by 300 million people their health care would collapse.

  • Some perfumes make my throat close up and/or my tongue swell.
    I’ve had to leave rooms
It never crossed my mind to make it illegal.
But if we‘re going to make smells you can’t bare illegal, then we should make all smells anyone can’t bare illegal.
I personally can’t wait for the glorious day when cilantro is declared illegal. That stuff smells like an old malfunctioning sewer plant in a swamp at low tide during a heat wave.

  • Grief can make you do weird things. His other actions will, I think, determine his sincerity.

Although it may seem cold to you, the first thing I thought of was the recent Japanese scandal where people didn’t report relatives deaths and collected their government checks for years.

I don‘t think we’re spineless cowards but if we are then we’re well armed spineless cowards. A land invasion of the U.S. would fail. The question is whether they could defeat the U.S. without soldiers on the ground. Keep in mind, also, that we currently have a volunteer army representing a fraction of our potential numbers.
As an historical example, do you you really think Hitler left Swtzerland alone because that’s where the money was? Does that even make sense?
Hitler hated the Swiss, his nickname for Switzerland was “Little Pig”.
The main reason he didn’t invade Switzerland is because every Swiss citizen owns a gun. Little detail that can really complicate an invasion.
As for our allies, they may not help us but I doubt they’ll be helping the other side either.

  • Mob Attacks French Foreign Minister in Gaza

Those signs are well done. Looks like they were made on high quality paper.
Also, did you notice how the protesters look?
No headgear, suit jackets and nice haircuts.
Look at the hand of the guy in the lower left corner of the photo holding the sign upside down against the car. What a beautiful manicure!
These guys have my vote for the best dressed protesters of the year.

  • Maybe it’s just me but I think this resembles “The Exorcist” movie poster
