  I‘m glad I’m young, and armed, and disiplined, and experienced in the use of firearms. Try not to undercut all of us young folks. Some of us have actually been in combat a time or two. But I do see your point, many of my peers are pretty worthless.

  NVG‘s arn’t as useful in an American city as they are in the woods or even in an Iraqi city. Too much residual light. All those street lights and lit up signs cause them to flare out. They do make helmet mounted thermals now, and they are pretty awesome if you don’t have to look through glass.

  This is what really sucks about being stationed in DC. I can‘t legally carry a weapon to defend myself and I can’t move away. There’s something ironic about all the military training on how to safely engage threats, and all the experience safely (for me and my guys anyway) engaging said threats, that I can’t carry a weapon in my own nations capitol. I really miss living in a gun friendly red-state. I felt safe there. I also felt pretty safe in Afghanistan… then again, I was pretty heavily armed there. I guess firepower makes any neighborhood safer.

  I wish I were still stationed at Ft. Campbell. I miss having open carry laws. Here in DC I feel naked as a jaybird. There is indeed something comforting in feeling the weight of that 1911 on your hip. I guess it’s just me and the ASP on the metro tomorrow.

  I remember growing up my Dad had a cross-stich sampler on the wall in his office. It red, in large, hand stiched letters “F*** COMMUNISM”. My Grandma made it for him. I miss the days when Communism was known as an evil. Seems we have to have a new country try and fail at it every generation. Lets not let it be our country this generation.

  Speaking for my entire generation, I’m sorry. Honestly, some of us do work hard, take care of ourselves, and even bathe. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you law enforcement personel who can take that kind of abuse without making martyrs out of them. You are stronger than I am.

  No. Not a chance. No way. I don’t want to have to be responsible for watching my back and theirs. I have enough trouble keeping privates who want to be there doing the right thing. I don’t even want to imagine trying to get “draftees” to do the right thing.
