  • Mammalone – Who do you think is sitting around ordering scientists? The people who are providing the funding. Scientists who want funding notice what they are rewarding. For a while it was AIDS, autism and global warming. Hint, the new one is obesity, hence you get research that says obese women have more children with autism. Thank you Michelle Obama.

My husband is a doctor and he is appalled with the studies that get published in medical journals. It’s as bad as global warming. Drug companies are running into real problems because most of the results in these studies cannot be reproduced. I think it was the Washington Examiner that recently had a piece on that.

  • Oops forgot an important point, the old convenant couldn’t end unless all of Isreal or God died, thus ending the covenant. The Old Covenant ended when God died at Calvary, making way for the New Covenant.

  • Moving on the New Covenant (Testement) at the last supper into the Crucifixtion Jesus offers His own Body and Blood as the sacrifice. He offers it first as bread and wine, so that through His Body we might participate in the death of the flesh, and for the first time we are drinking the blood! The Life is in the Blood. not the life of an animal, but the life of God. When we eat His Body and drink His Blood in the Eucharist we participate in the His life, death and resurrection. We become His family, because we share the same blood. Just like Jesus transformed water into wine at Cana. The Holy Spirit transforms the bread and wine into His Body and Blood.
The last supper was the passover feast, that lamb had to eaten to fully participate. Jesus did not drink the last of four cups at the last supper, it was not drunk until on the cross when hyssop was placed in his mouth, The fourth cup was the cup of completion. It makes everything from the Last Supper to his death part of the same act. After He drank the final cup, it was finished.

Why would chalices that held the Body and Blood of Jesus be less sacred than utensils that sacrificed animals? Believe me the desecration is worse.

  • Where to begin, where to begin… There are a number of Catholics who were not properly taught their faith, you are probably encountering them. All of the early churches, the roman, orthodox and some smaller churches formed in India and Africa by the lesser known Apostles believed that the bread and wine were transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ. Even Luther, Calvin and Wesley believed it. Wesley wrote beautiful hymn to it. This belief that it is symbolic is only been in the last couple of centuries an effort I believe to further separate themselves from the Roman Catholic Church.
This belief has it’s foundations deep in the Old Testement. When Moses and the people of Israel made the original covenant with God. Animals were slain and blood poured on the people and the altar. Symbolism was twofold – 1. We are now family, we share the same blood, and 2. May this be done unto me if I ever break my word. Covenants of this sort were not uncommon and lasted until one of the people died. A rich man might send a servant to die for them, while a poor man paid with his life. The Lord allowed that the Isrealites offer an animal for their sins. They were to eat of the animal, as a way of participating in the sacrifice and death, but they were not to drink of the blood, since the life of the animal was in the blood. This was to be a death of their animal nature.

  • Alessandre, I come from a long line of servants, which means I have a lot of “noble” blood in me. Doing the family tree was interesting. My great-grandfather was the spit and image of Wilhem I of Germany, who according to family lore was his father. I think he had a lot of bastards.

  • I loved the Hunger Games. It was ultimately a movie about humanity, about the people who keep their humanity and those who lose it or have lost it. The ones who had lost it were not on the field of play, but those who were running the games. Others lost it through upbringing being trained from birth, others just lost it through fear. Those who kept their humanity shone so brightly.

    In reply to Wdawg.

Restored One, why would you say that Mitt is not a pushover. He changes his opinion all the time depending on who he is talking to. Obama is just a figurehead, whoever is on the other end of the blackberry is calling the shots. I know Ricks beliefs are what are calling the shots in his life. I am just so leery of the press and the establishments support of Mitt. I mean there are progressives in the republican party, Who are they supporting and more importantly Why?

  • They should look so good in their mid-50s. Rick and I are the same age, and I would hate to have my photo taken in a swimsuit.

  • A guy who loves his wife, praises her every chance he gets, is involved with his kids lives, suspends his campaign when a kids is sick, yeah women hate that.

  • I don’t know if you saw on Drudge the other day, that a lot of churches are going into foreclosure. Not for the usual reason. They have balloon mortgages where you pay for 5 years, then the rest comes due. It has always been a cycle of refinancing again. The banks aren’t refinancing them, even if they have always paid on time. They have to come up with all of it or be foreclosed on.

So basically churches that have been expanding, are the ones that are in trouble.
