  • What About Obama’s High School Years?

    May 22, 2012 at 8:43pm

    In reply to blackyb.

When is someone in congress with true Jefferson Smith gumption going to call a hearing about the actions and inactions of the press? I’m sure the Media Research Center and millions of everyday citizens will happily present evidence of a complete sellout of our country by what was once considered our fourth estate. These hearings should not only be live on TV, but organizations that truly care for our country should ask for donations so that they can advertise the hearings. The more viewers the better.

  • Rogers’ mother remarked: “My biggest concern is that this ‘teacher’ is responsible for teaching my child and hundreds of others, and she is not teaching them factual information.”

Hey, shouldn’t that be a major concern of the The Rowan-Salisbury School System? She has obviously been indoctrinating, not teaching. Is she entitled to keep her job? Consider that she may have brainwashed one student…or maybe dozens. If she was my child’s teacher and my child was walking around saying that Obama is a good president, I’d be furious. Can this school system be sued if they retain this so called teacher?

  • I was just thinking, wondering about We The People of 1776 and the Founding Fathers, and what their politics were as compared to today. It would seem that the vast majority, likely 90-95%, would be classified as Libertarians by today’s standards, and they are the people that most people today show deep respect for. They were people who just wanted to be left alone to fend for themselves. Why is the vast majority of today’s people condone so many laws and regulations that suppress the rights of others?

  • Can’t say I never did alcohol, but like Jillette, I can honestly declare that I never did ANY drug, so I can’t be accused of having an ax. One in six are in prison simply because they smoked marijuana? Really? And what is accomplished by imprisoning these people? I just googled the question as to what percentage of us smoke marijuana. I didn’t find a factual site. Those I found claim the usage is 50% or more. Even if that figure is really 25% it would seem to me that we should have a national referendum on the question about legalization, with real public discussions ahead of time, such as if it costs $40,000 per year per prisoner and one in six people in prison are there simply because they smoked…?

  • @JCLDWL/BADDADDY/MOMRULES

How sad that your comments seem the only sensible ones under this article. Others trying to justify the actions or those simply complaining that the government is overdoing it are so weak. It seems that even most of those on the right just don’t really get it. Government is totally out of control but so is the mindset of those that would agree to one more law or act or even one more tweak on an existing law or act. Only dismantling the vast majority of these will bring back the country as we knew it; the country for which so many died.

About a year ago, I was stunned to hear myself say aloud, “I just don’t like this country anymore.”

  • Amen brother!

  • What should be revealing to anyone that goes to another site that’s reporting on this such as a WCBS site, the comments are overwhelming against Zimmerman, and are vehement. It really shows how effective brainwashing can be. I mean, it’s perfectly already for someone to sit back and wait to see and hear the evidence when a case comes to trial, that’s fair. It’s also understandable for someone to form an opinion based on facts, even distorted facts such as the media usually presents. However, to now be presented with news that Zimmerman had two black eyes, a broken nose, etc. while an autopsy shows Martin had bruised, skin-broken knuckles, and still believe what has previously been fed truly shows the effects of brainwashing, which the media is doing on a daily basis. As soon as the November elections are over, congress should hold hearings on this conspiracy of the media against We The People.

  • If I had to guess, I suspect that Mutiny will vote for Romney in spite of his comments; after all, we don’t have a real choice now, do we? However, whether what he says are ‘huge generalizations’ or not, they seem to hold enough doubt as to where a Romney presidency will lead. Our only real hope is that on the day after election, ‘right’ side GOPers demand that within his first three months of taking office, the beginning of the dismantling of government be started. If not, a third party should be initiated.

  • @majasdad. I would venture to guess that you listen to too much TV news if you believe conservatives have become more rightwing. Sadly for those of us Goldwaterites who are still alive, we see that the complete opposite is true. In fact, as has been rightly pointed out by many much more politically astute than me, JFK‘s politics would be leaning to the right of today’s GOP (yes, I said that right). Those in the Republican Party today who are considered moderate would have been branded as left leaning loonies if they were in office in the fifties. The Paul Ryan types maybe would have been labeled as moderate. Real conservatives of those days, if in office today, would be demanding a complete reversal of what government has become. Most people today are fed their beliefs via the MSM or Beltway pundits, which is why we are going to he11 in a handbasket.

  • The powers that be at Comcast are big Obama supporters. Comcast owns MSNBC. Comcast sends me advertisements looking for my business again after I’ve canceled. I love that old saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Hello FIOS, Hello Dish, Hello Direct TV, Hello all others but…
