  • Sorry, disregard that second “this”. Got carried away :)

  • Sorry…disregard the second “this.” Got carried away :)

  • I don’t know if anyone else has brought this up, but this Arkansas also has this program.

My cell phone is old and turns itself off in the middle of conversations at least once a day. My husband is deployed and my job doesn’t pay much, and we can’t afford a new phone. My husband is doing more for this country than most people I know on welfare (aside from, of course, the several soldiers are on welfare.) I’m sure it makes him very proud to fight for a country that takes advantage of the people who support themselves.

  • It’s “allowed”-not “aloud”- and “houses”-without the apostrophe. No coffee for you.

  • I’m appalled to have read so many damning, sarcastic, condescending, and even political comments left on here. Can’t everyone just set aside their beliefs and frustration at others and agree that his family needs a tremendous amount of support from others? If you have to bring religion into it, leave out the talk of Hell and simply say that his family needs prayers and love. Hopefully no one in his family ever sees some of these.

  • What an over-generalization. I am a young college student, but I am far from “spoiled and brattish.” I agree with you THIS girl is probably pretty bratty, but how dare anyone generalize college students for this one girl’s overreaction. Many of us have worked very hard to get into good schools, and I’ve had to work 2 jobs and go to school full-time to pay my own bills because I refuse to rely on my parents to reach my goals. And for the record, I know many fellow students that also hate it when a classmate is rude enough to be on Facebook or any other non-educational website during lecture. Don‘t judge today’s youth based on some “bad apples.” We’re just as frustrated as you are.

  • OZ, thank you for such a level-headed comment. Working in a pharmacy, I have seen so many of the same people drive up week after week trying to get refills on their anxiety meds, SSRIs, or narcotics. I have no issue with patients that do not abuse their medications, but there is always someone who does. However, does that mean we should take all of these off the market simply because they have the potential to be abused? Although I have no research to back up my opinion, my personal opinion is that pharmaceutical drugs are much more likely to lead to dependancy than marijuana. Then again, since marijuana isn’t legal in all states, I can’t imagine that there are credible studies supporting or rejecting that relationship….

  • Jim, I didn’t say I supported the radio stations, and I agree that the Phelps family is absolutely vile. Trust me – I have a husband about to go to Afghanistan and God forbid something were to happen and they show up anywhere near me. I can only imagine the distress these people bring to families undergoing a tremendous amount of grief. But I can understand the radio stations’ negotiation, and understanding and agreeing are two separate things. The more we try to fight off the Phelps, the more they’ll push. Again, they can have their say but we don’t have to listen to it, and I don‘t see how that’s being “foolish.”

  • Seriously, guys? The Phelps clan makes me mad as hell too, but it deeply saddens me to see the different levels of hatred this tragedy has stirred up.
That being said, I understand why the radio stations would take them up on their offer. The hosts obviously believe it will help out the family. So what if they get their 30 minutes? They can exercise their rights to free speech as easily as we can exercise our right to turn off our radios. They want publicity, then give it to them. If nobody listens, then Westboro still fails. Let it get under your skin, let it piss you off, and then simmer down and realize that it’s people like the Phelps that show us how NOT to show love for our fellow Americans. We should all be above Westboro’s level of hatred…
