Church Sign Goes Viral: ‘God Prefers Kind Atheists Over Hateful Christians’ (POLL)
April 4, 2012 at 10:29am
SH3LLZ, You may have missed my point.
Everyone should leave everyone else alone.
What a person “believes” is not an issue.
Anyone can “believe” what they choose.
No one should be looked down upon based
on what they believe – nor acted against.
The old saying “Actions speak louder than
words” seems appropriate here. The Golden Rule
is most applicable.

Christians, as well as many others, “believe” there is a God.
Atheists “believe” there isn’t.
A definition of “believe”: The accepting of
something as true without fact.
A Christian can no more prove their point than
can an atheist. So, get over yourselves and leave those
who don’t “believe” as you do alone.

You almost got the saying correct. The actual saying is “right is right and wrong is left”.
Cardinal Dolan: Obama Admin Lectured Bishops to Listen to ‘Enlightened’ Voices in Private Mtg.

loveoursoldiers,
To me, the actions that strive to obviate our Constitution are far more important than his leanings toward muslims, against Christians, etc. – real or assumed.

The root cause of all this discussion kind of eludes me. The talk about violations of the 1st Amendment seems apparent in its applicability. However, isn’t it the 10th Amendment that is the more important “violated” one? I mean, where is it written that the government even has the right to issue such mandates? Were the 10th Amendment followed then the 1st Amendment would not have become an issue. What am I missing here?
Fed Judge Sides With Teen Atheist & Orders Public School to Remove Prayer Mural

re: encinom -
Re: your “goal post” analogy – In fact I was attempting to solidify the “goal post” that you (obviously) were not able to understand. Your statement re: the school advocating or promoting a religion is faulty. Displaying an example of a religious statement is not the same as “establishing” one. And, you failed to address the 1st Amendment’s “free exercise…”. Do you understand what that means?

re: encinom – the 14th amendment applies the 1st to the states -
Of course, however, the 14th Amendment does not trump the “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” specified in the 1st Amendment.

re: encinon -
Exactly how was the school in violation of the First Amendment?:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The school is NOT Congress and the school is NOT part of the Federal Government.

Air Force Base Won’t Remove Nativity Scene, Menorah From Holiday Display

A big thanks to the Air Force Judge Advocate General for the decision. Such displays, indeed, are Constitutional. In fact, prohibition of such displays are in contrast to the Constitution. See my “take” on all such attempts to thwart religious liberty:
