  • @Gates, your ignorance shows in your post, Catholics believe we are saved by grace and do not worship Mary. We do however abide by the Bible when we honor her…look it up “and all generations will call me blessed.”

  • 1991 encyclical Centesimus Annus by Pope John Paul II:

“In recent years the range of such intervention has vastly expanded, to the point of creating a new type of state, the so-called ‘Welfare State.’ This has happened in some countries in order to respond better to many needs and demands by remedying forms of poverty and deprivation unworthy of the human person. However, excesses and abuses, especially in recent years, have provoke very harsh criticisms of the Welfare State, dubbed the ‘Social Assistance State.’ Malfunctions and defects in the Social Assistance State are the result of an inadequate understanding of the tasks proper to the State. Here again the principle of subsidiarity must be respected: a community of a higher order should not interfere in the internal life of a community of a lower order, depriving the latter of its functions, but rather should support it in case of need and help to coordinate its activity with the activities of the rest of society, always with a view to the common good. “By intervening directly and depriving society of its responsibility, the Social Assistance State leads to a loss of human energies and an inordinate increase of public agencies, which are dominated more by bureaucratic thinking than by concern for serving their clients, and which are accompanied by an enormous increase in spending, In fact, it would appear that needs are best understood and satisfied by people who are closest to them who act as neighbor

Fundamental error of socialism: A mistaken conception of the person
“Continuing our reflections, … we have to add that the fundamental error of socialism is anthropological in nature. Socialism considers the individual person simply as an element, a molecule within the social organism, so that the good of the individual is completely subordinated to the functioning of the socio-economic mechanism. Socialism likewise maintains that the good of the individual can be realized without reference to his free choice, to the unique and exclusive responsibility which he exercises in the face of good or evil. Man is thus reduced to a series of social relationships, and the concept of the person as the autonomous subject of moral decision disappears, the very subject whose decisions build the social order. From this mistaken conception of the person there arise both a distortion of law, which defines the sphere of the exercise of freedom, and an opposition to private property.” (Ibid, n. 13)

  • BENEDICT XVI (2005 – present):
“We do not need a State which regulates and controls everything”

    Benedict XVI
“The State which would provide everything, absorbing everything into itself, would ultimately become a mere bureaucracy incapable of guaranteeing the very thing which the suffering person − every person − needs: namely, loving personal concern. We do not need a State which regulates and controls everything, but a State which, in accordance with the principle of subsidiarity, generously acknowledges and supports initiatives arising from the different social forces and combines spontaneity with closeness to those in need. … In the end, the claim that just social structures would make works of charity superfluous masks a materialist conception of man: the mistaken notion that man can live ‘by bread alone’ (Mt 4:4; cf. Dt 8:3) − a conviction that demeans man and ultimately disregards all that is specifically human.” (Encyclical Deus Caritas Est, December 25, 2005, n. 28)

  • God Blesses him and us with his witness to faith in Jesus, I am going to be joyful with those Catholics here and anyone else that has good will as Scriptures mention on this statement on the life and faith of Pope John Paul 11. As for all the hatred on the thread and the spite, this does not mirror Our Father in heaven. Out of charity I will go no further with it.

  • God heals the Pope interceded for her and answered his prayer.

You read and study and if you are ever in Rome under the main alter in the Vatican you can visit the tomb of Saint Peter, wake up and smell the truth.

  • Your welcome KITA, always remember too when Jesus was being tempted by the devil, satan used scripture out of context to do it, also, Jesus was accused of casting out demons by demons. Try to rejoice and offer to Jesus the mocking of those who also claim to follow Him and perhaps they will let Jesus fill them with Love and understanding.

  • There are organizations that use the Catholic mantra that does not mean they adhere to the doctrine or are in good standing with the Church. Westboro Baptist, are you saying that bunch represents Baptists?

  • Catholics are Christians.
