  • And yet the most popular and lethal round to ever win wars were 30-06 and .45 acp oddly enough. AND the fact that for Iraq and Afghanistan the pull out of moth balls,,, 30-06 chambered weapons. The new line of arms are coming back at what 6.8mm?
    Dont get me wrong, M16 and its 223 round has certain purposes but in certain combat conditions, my buddy who was over in Iraq and his fellow soldiers all had larger caliber weapons,, he said one guy had an M16 w/5.56mm rounds,,,everyone else had big stuff, and it would punch through and get the bad guys. He said bad thing was seeing a guy shoot at you and you hit them and they still run at you. Going to heavier weapons and KNOWING the bad guy with gun wanting to kill you will stay down is worth the extra weight.
    BUT it is kind of kewl. Be neat to say “Lookie here” maybe even having some slight military usefulness.

  • Yeah and the Kitty Hawk had their threat receivers melting in their dashes, told them over radio to bug out of be vapor AND to send them the pretty pictures they took,,,which they did but it also gave Navy much needed information on the Soviet picture taking capabilities and types of cameras used. Had a cousin on the Kitty Hawk then he said if on of those pilots sneezed wrong they were vapor.

  • Again its for areas with high pump and run. Now for some people the debit/credit card way of paying in some pumps still hits your card for like double or triple the amount you could possibly pump and wont clear off till the first approval after the purchase is authorized, With some people with only few dollars or filling up right before payday and it causes bounced checks and such,, this alleviates that or for people who DONT have CC/DC to use

  • The article heading is BS its for areas with high drive offs, you swipe your license, pump your gas, you go in to pay for it and your ID info is deleted it ONLY gets saved as a number/code to give to police to report a drive off. IF you pay first THEN you have to go in for change if you cant fit all of that amount in you tank,,, this is just to keep people from pumping and running,,,, it does not store any information as the pump is cleared after next authorization.

  • To all who have issue with the story, a friend of mine, and my first cousins, cousin on his moms side was there,, and yes JV DID mouth off, and yes the guy split as there was another fight just outside the cops were intervening in,,,and yes it WAS a SEAL wake. Now did JV mouth off, yes, did he go nose to nose with the guy, yes, was JV drinking, not from what I heard, AND the three other people with JV also pointed out to JV that he should have kept his big mouth shut.
    Now was it justified,,,no but any good commander would have most likely wrote it up in the guys file and had the “letter ” pulled after 30/60/90 days if he didnt get into any more trouble, and my buddy Boomer would tell us was customary. If you did get into a lot of trouble THEN you got booted or severe reprimand,,,like when Boomer(high school nick name if you must know) was out on a date with his future wife, a local in town he was in threw blood on him and her, then pulls a knife and his buddy walks up with baseball bat with nails in it. Boomer proceeded to put both of them in hospital and it was all on video security camera,,,got him 90 day write up, lose of some pay, crap duty for two weeks,,,and commander who stood at his wedding and the trial. As Boomer puts it, he has met JV(before), and man is insufferably arrogant and actually was happy someone shut his yap up.

  • Actually as you state you claim being an atheist I would actually place you more as a strong agnostic with great doubts. BUT this is just my observation,,not a jab or anything.

  • roll another fatty grandpa:

    *** bay ya, my Lord, *** bay ya;
    *** bay ya, my Lord, *** bay ya;
    *** bay ya, my Lord, *** bay ya,
    O Lord, *** bay ya.
    toke away brothers and sisters, THE MAN is in power.
    Must mean 1% are THE MAN now,,,,hmmm odd how their kids nad grand kids are now the ones they fight.
    Oh and they have their 401K and retirements WITH the 1% that make big profits,,,,uhhhh oh wait,,, hmmmmm lets see if grandpa will go back to work and lose all of his retirement if the 1% shut down, and how he would feel.

  • OK as a technician, lets clear up many facts, gasoline engines have gotten more efficient as a means to clean up the emissions NOT make more miles per gallon. At best the gasoline engine basic efficiency is still in the 36 percentile range, the other amounts are lost from cooling system and heat out of exhaust and friction.
    As for Honda Hybrids they differ from Toyota as the Toyotas are electric with gas assist, the Hondas are Gas with electric assist,,,and latter design isnt as efficient.
    As for mileage it even states in owners manual and such averages may vary due to driver practices.
    Heck I will give you guys a little test. If you car is freshly tuned up, fresh filters, etc. try this, check your mileage every take, fill on slow notch, never top off, same station and pump, THEN try averaging it over 4 or 5 tanks,, your mileage will most likely go up,,,also after doing this try using both 89 and 93 octane,,,,some cars will run better one mid grade over high or high over low,,,also figure price per mile with higher priced fuel. Generally difference per tank is less than $2 but my old 91 Cavalier gets better mileage on premium.
    And will knock down solid 29+ ever tank but can squeak out over 31 if averaged over several tanks.

  • So they think its bad, got to land on the “practice” flat top with buddy in military. he has a decommissioned 2seat F16 with tail hook, he came in and that was wild ride, we also got to fly out and back in with one of the practice supply planes for a flat top,,wow, those water landers got balls, especially if taking off and and landing loaded.
    BUT the best feeling is the plane launch,,,,whoa mama. Never knew ,till he said he was flying out and asked if I wanted to go, that we were going for that fun ride. He also told me that fewer than 50 pilots ever flew carrier adapted F16s (were being phased out as we were talking, down to NG use only) and he had found the parts when refitting his plane,,oh and he is retired Air Force General and used to play in 5 sided crazy train as he called it. Great guy, gave a dang about his troops, and hated bureaucracy he had to deal with. Oh he bought and built his plane as he worked for General Dynamics He also now has a F14 going together and i looking for older planes, cant have a ‘15 cause still in use in places. BUT that ‘16 is a hot rod, and if you have weak stomach, you get to clean it up!

  • Here is odd thing the A(rmalite) R(ifle) 15 was first designed as a varmint rifles then got picked up by military and touted as a never needs cleaning gun, bad thing is ALL guns need to be cleaned. Vietnam troops hated them or loved them, the farmer boys kept their guns cleaned and oiled and well maintained and all came back from ‘Nam. Others who had little know how in maintaining ANY firearm soon learned them farm boys were kind of up on the game,,,now ever wonder why in every movie you see them training tearing down AR15s?
    And since the AR design ports nicely over to other calibers and with many options Ill take on in 300 WMR or 308 or one my buddy has built,,,30-06! gotta love real hole punching power.
    Now I have an older cousin who was in Rangers and such and he was, at first ridiculed in that he was missing all but first shot,,till they saw he was putting all the bullets through same hole,,,with issued M16, nothing special,,,,heck he was one of us who grew up using, respecting and cherishing out guns,,,and one he was very familiar with,,,AR15. Besides who hasnt pop off a few 223 at ground hogs and other varmints,,lots o’fun!
