Why Are People Saying Good Things about Glenn Beck?

Thomas Payne,
Whoever gave you the idea that the SOURCE does not matter? Especially when such an emotionally embellished definition was concocted by Ayn Rand, who had feverish hate and ceaseless contempt for the disenfranchised and the “weak”? That’s like Hitler writing a definition of the ideal society.

Thomas Payne,
It is deliciously ironic that you would quote the writings of a declared atheist, who considered any form of faith as fully counter-productive and a dangerous means of obstructing “reason”, and someone who is best described as the ULTIMATE NIHILIST.
Yeah, I’d rather want my country run by people of that ilk.

Prospero,
You claim I avoid addressing your point that said conflation of terms is not deceptive or misleading. You state that Beck is fully correct when he treats all these forms of government as one and the same, i.e. statist, as you call them.
You further claim that it is IMMATERIAL to this point that there are obvious differences (e.g. being democratically elected or NOT, being violent or NOT, upholding the constitutional rights such as free speech or NOT) amongst these forms of government, as they all share the property of statism.
Then let me be clear. I don’t have a problem with more control in the hands of government, with REGULATION. In turn, I DO have a problem with what happens when unbridled Capitalism plays out to its cruel, Darwinian consequence. I DO have a problem with our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness being CONTROLLED and INFRINGED upon corporations that are allowed to run wild, unchecked and unchallenged.
Let me also be clear that when Beck is guilty of a serious (intentional) flaw of omission. He obviously is against a statist regime, I get that, but he then immediately goes on to claim that the control should lie in the hands of the PEOPLE. “We the people”. Except that he fails to acknowledge the sway that corporations hold over our lives, and how this would be continue with decreased regulatory intervention. Since he removes corporations from the picture, he paints a picture that is JUST as misleading and distorted and corrupted as is his vision of what would happen if we give the centralized government more power.
So again, if you accuse me of not offering a rebuttal to your claims that Beck IS correct in conflating all these regimes as statist, it may be because the STATISM I don’t have a problem with. It DOES matter however what precise form of government it is we are talking about, unless you claim that is completely irrelevant what other aspects that government brings along with them, and then I’d ask YOU why you think this is not important.
Looking forward to your telling me again how I missed your point :)

Prospero,
Oh, and by the way, concluding each of your replies to me with the word “moron” embeds your intellectual musings with the maturity of a 5 year old.

Prospero,
As you keep claiming I am avoiding your “point”, which itself is an interesting method of debate, please enlighten me why it IS okay to conflate and intermingle and loosely and interchangeably use all these forms of government in describing the CURRENT administration, because that is precisely what Beck is doing. And then, when you are done with that, please enlighten me why it is so bad for this country to go down a more socialist path? Thanks!

JPhillips writes: “Oh and saying that someone is “implying” something doesn’t count….you need to use FACTS.”
Except when it’s the very method with which someone disseminates their conspiracy theories and fearmongering. Again, that is exactly why I mentioned footage of Nazi marches rolling in the background often when Beck talks about the evil progressive movement and even Obama himself. What more can I say here? I ask WHY is he doing that? Towards what end, for what effect? It is PRECISELY this charismatic style of making innuendos and insinuations that makes Beck so seemingly impervious to criticism amongst his followers.

Prospero,
“Communists, Fascists, Liberals, Progressives. All that same thing, statists….tyrannts…with minor and insignificant differences.”
When a democratically elected, liberal or progressive government starts killing their detractors, put them into concentration camps, disallow free travel, expressions of opinions, and dissent, I’ll buy your “argument”.

On an unrelated note, am I the only one who really doesn’t like the way posting comments works on The Blaze? Not only is there often a 5-10 minute delay (which, pre-screening comments alone seems odd when there’s also a “Report” post function), but only offering two hierarchies of posts (i.e. original post and then only reply branch) makes things needlessly cumbersome.

Prospero,
Glad to see that you feel so self-assured in your arguments that you’ve already arrived at mindless namecalling.

CoFX,
Yes, I’m quite aware of what POTUS stands for. However, there is a devious method to omitting the name of the current president. You are so used to hate-filled diatribes, perhaps, that the subtler undercurrent of how this hate builds up escapes you.
