  Can you give scriptural references (Book, chptr, vrs) for your statements (other than “the text says”)? Your own words say it best:

  The problem: what you espouse is NOT fact, not in this reality anyway. From Scripture:

  The Christ had to be:
  1) God w/ us (Immanuel) in human form (born of a virgin) – Isaiah 7 (see vs 14). Confirmed in Matthew 1:23.
  2) Of the Lineage & house of David (a decedent of Judah – Ruth 4:17-22; Genesis 38:29 & 46:12 – confirmed in Matthew 1 & Luke 3), & His Kingdom will be an everlasting one (forever) – 2 Samuel 7 (see vs 11 – 16)
  3) Concerning the Messiah in Jacob’s prophecy (Genesis 49) it was given to Judah

  “Judah, you are he whom your brothers shall praise; Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Your father’s children shall bow down before you [<sign of worship or royalty]. Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; And as a lion, who shall rouse him?   The problem is not freedom of speech gone amuck. The problem is that the protesters as well as those backing them (including the totalitarian & the self-serving political class – Chomsky included) don’t understand the word “peaceably”. Meaning they don’t know how to read or (more accurately) could not care less what the law (Constitution) says – which ultimately leads to lawlessness & chaos — the home brew of a dictator.

  What exactly are you implying?

  If you mean from a tribal affiliation, you’re correct. Moses was a Levite (David, as is Christ, is from the line of Judah – where we get the word “Jew”. However from a religious point of view at the time of Christ (as well as the commonly understood definition today), Moses – through whom God gave the Law (John 1:17) is the father of the “Jewish religion” & what the Jews of the day believed they were practicing. In that context your statement is hair splitting at best – Christ (as well as the Apostle Paul) contradict you .
  Matthew 23:1-3 Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples, (2) saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. (3) Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.

  You have that wrong friend. Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah, an Israelite (a Jew from the tribe of Judah, in the line of David the King & legal heir to David’s throne – Mattityahu 1, Luke 3) said HE was above all faiths:

  It amazes me how those who call for the destruction of Israel (not that you are) or those who claim Israel is evil or occupying someone else’s land, do so by denying the Bible’s validity & then deny historical facts. But then I suspect their reason for doing so is because they don’t want to admit to themselves the obvious:

  If Israel being back in the land was a prophecy fulfilled, then the God of the Bible is truly God, therefore I am accountable to Him. Which is a wise & logical conclusion. However denying reality is never a wise reaction to a logical conclusion.

  As for the foreign aid, I’m sure Israel would gladly do w/out it – especially if we stopped funding her enemies at levels & percentages that exceed & in some cases eclipse the aid we send her:

  by the way, the aid for Israel has remained relatively static during the current & past administrations while the aid to her enemies has steadily increased – including Iran which hides under the category of Near East,
  Other/Unspecified whose category rose from ~300 M from ’05 – ’07 to ~1.1B from ’08 – ’10 (2010 was a particularly good year @ 635M). Afganistan & Pakistan (no friends to Israel) have also faired quite handsomely.

  Interesting handle choice. Oxymoron? You wrote:

  Have you read the Old Covenant (Testament)? If you have, then your reading was rather selective. Either that or you didn’t get much past the 31st chapter of Exodus. If the Jews simply made up a story which we now call the Bible (or at least Old Testament) what reason on earth would they have for writing about so much failure & predict so much misery for themselves?

  How in the world would they have been able to not only predict but bring about the re-gathering of a people scattered about to the ends the earth to the very same real estate they were dispossessed from approx. 2000 yrs earlier? & that wasn’t the 1st time such a prediction & fulfillment had occurred. E.g. read Deuteronomy 28-30.

  The Bible is full of heartache & disaster for the Jewish people – so if that is your idea of “chosen” then I’m guessing they’d say “pick someone else”.

  In a passage whose focus is all about great faith (7:9) the word servant appears 5 times, 4 of which are the word doulos (the writer’s description) & once it is pais (the Centurion’s description). In no place does it imply anything of a sexual nature.

  doulos (doo’-los)
  a slave (literally or figuratively, involuntarily or voluntarily; frequently therefore in a qualified sense of subjection or subserviency): – bond (-man), servant.

  entimos (en’-tee-mos)
  valued (figuratively): – dear, more honourable, precious, in reputation.

  pais (paheece)
  a boy (as often beaten with impunity), or (by analogy) a girl, and (generally) a child; specifically a slave or servant (especially a minister to a king; and by eminence to God): – child, maid (-en), (man) servant, son, young man.

  Don’t be a tool of satan. Stop twisting & perverting the Word of God. And if you’re caught up in sexual sin — stop figuring out a way to justify it & simply repent & cry out to the Lord who is mighty to save & willing to forgive & will save all who call on His name: Yeshua (Jesus) Christ

  1st I don’t see what your conjecture has to do w/ the fact that there is no direct account of Christ interacting w/ a hs recorded in the gospels – that isn’t to say He never did –John 21:25 — & had He, no doubt He would have treated him like all the other sinners He, Jesus, encountered (John 3:16; 5:39-40; 6:35-40).

  tmarends: Yes… the Bible is clear… when read in the original Greek or Hebrew. Our current English translations? Not so much. Much of the Greek & Hebrew does not translate well

  I’m sorry but this cannot go unchallenged. You both disparage the work of the Holy Spirit through saints & martyrs’ & great linguistic scholars whose water you aren’t worthy to carry (e.g. Wycliffe, Tyndale, the Septuagint – quoted often by the Apostle Paul, etc. – the list goes on).

  Just because in this time of re-writing history & exchanging the truth for a lie so that someone takes the Bible & does their own paraphrase (e.g. the message), does not mean that all translations should be thrown under the bus.

  Furthermore the statement regarding Hebrew & Greek is in ignorance. Hebrew & Greek have many unique properties, among which is precision. Greek is perhaps the most precise language in human history. To say neither can be translated well is non-sense & thinking you can just grab a concordance & do what you claim – by inference – what the World’s greatest linguistic scholars (most of which were under the influence of the Holy Spirit) could not do, is a fools game.
