  • My heart breaks for these two. Not because of their conditions, but because of narrow minded people, including their own selfish mother, who refuse to recognize the value that their lives hold. Scripture says that God created the weak to shame the strong. My son reminds me every day that I am blessed beyond measure to have him in my life. These special souls stretch us beyond what we think we can give and do. People who are able to work with them are able to learn that they are much more than a pile of flesh. They do feel emotions. Happiness, sadness, frustration, and love. We just have to be willing to listen the right way. For those who would claim that God is a sadist for allowing people to live this way, I say humanity is the sadist for wanting to discard them so quickly. If I could take those two in, I would. Tearfully, Mannamomof4.

  • So to be able to cover their costs for now and the future, our insurance premiums are MORE than our home mortgage payment and went up so much this last year that my husband actually got a pay CUT! A family of six living on a teacher’s salary is NOT the 1%. Sorry, but you can keep Obama and his CHANGE.

    Well said, Kess.

  • @Momrules: I love your story. I am the mother of a 7 year old boy with such severe brain damage that he statistically should be a vegetable. But through educating myself, dedication to him, and hard work on his part, he is able to communicate with us. He can pick which music he wants to listen to, what he wants to eat, and where he wants to spend his time. It is hard sometimes when he struggles with new tasks, but the joy on his face when he ends up mastering that skill is priceless. I don‘t necessarily see the point of this father’s lesson, but we must be careful about rushing to judge anyone without full knowledge of the situation.

  • I must agree with Godfather. Yes, we need to know what is being taught in the public schools, but more investigation should have been done before writing and releasing this article. “They haven‘t responded isn’t enough of an excuse. Get the full story, then tell us about it. Readers of The Blaze want the truth not catchy headlines.

  • I don’t recall her asking the government for help. She was asking why how he could justify the H1B Visas when there are so many Americans out of work. A question he never answered.

  • I must respectfully disagree, Jenny. I think Obama is empowering these people in the hopes that the rest of us will cry out, “Please, do something!” At that point he can establish a police state, and “for the safety of the country” declare himself Supreme Commander. That’s how Hitler did it. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Glenn has turned me into a conspiracy theorist.

  • I find it odd that I can’t seem to get this to post to Facebook.

  • Ummmm…if you don’t want your kid in that environment…Homeschool! Don’t give me the argument about money, either. What’s your kid worth? Stop expecting the government to do it and then gripe about what a bad job they are doing. I would require the parents to be AT the school sitting by their child all day if they weren’t behaving in class. If they don’t come in, they are arrested for child abandonment. Good grief, be a parent already! Touchy subject for me. Hubby is a public school teacher at a “behavior center”, and we homeschool. Excuses mean nothing to me.

  • This is why our family is trying to prepare for the loss of Medicaid for our special needs son. On paper, he should be a vegetable, but in reality he is a funny and lovable kid. It is sad that there are people who are so self centered that they have lost the ability to feel any kind of compassion for others. I guess we will need to go get more ammo to keep the vultures away.
