  • This woman’s comments about his struggle with identity and how he was closed off reminds me of what I have heard about Cary Grant (and some other actors). Rather than just be himself, he makes a personna and then sells it until it becomes “real” but no one really knows who he is inside. It explains a lot about why he makes me so uncomfortable…ok to be just a persona if you are Cary Grant, not ok if you are in charge of the well-being of an entire nation.

  • Masterful!

  • Why would it be an insult? I thought homosexuality was normal and equal. It was dumb, though, since Sandra Fluke by self-admission spends massive amounts of money per year on birth control.

  • Then we just need to speak louder…and more often.

  • So, how do we learn how to act toward our fellow creatures Mr. Culpepper? Prayer is simply conversation with the God you admit created us. The outcome is up to Him. You admit He intervenes at zero-hour-and-counting. That means He must be watching and listening. Perhaps He actually gives guidance, too. Since neither you nor I are sitting with Him knowing exactly what He is doing or thinking, we have to find our theology somewhere. I hope you can at least admit your theology is just your best guess and allow others the grace to make their own “best guesses” as well. Mine is based on the Bible and God speaking to me directly through many means. I am satisfied that I have a good basis for my conclusions. I’m also satisfied to let you have your own conclusions and hope (and pray) that you won’t stop seeking to know more about God and how He works in His creation. The good news is that the God who is big enough to create this magificent place and those who live in it is big enough to tell us the truth if we want it. Thanks for the post. We need to keep the discussion going, not just here but in our ongoing lives as well.

  • Thank God we are having this conversation. I happen to agree with the man who made the video. The love of the Jesus I know is personal, not institutional. We are His bride individually and collectively. Does “the church” draw you closer to him, further away or a mix of both? If your answer is “further away”, your church isn’t doing you any good. If religion creates a blanket of comfort in which you can express and receive the love of God, then great! Religion not infused with the absolute love of God is a perversion. This guy did a good job of articulating the difference between religion and faith. They are not the same thing.

  • Beautifully stated. I was thinking about how often they make up their own narrative. As a woman and a “Tea-Partier” and being of mixed ethnicity myself, I wonder how I became all of those things they say without even knowing it myself.

  • I honestly don’t care what subset of Christianity Bachmann and Perry belong to. Calvinism, Armenianism, Dominionism, Dispensationalism, Makeupyourownism…..Not a single one advocates for any political, governmental change outside of the rule of law. Being respectful of the rule of law, they might use the Bully Pulpit to influence thought in the country but will not be a law unto themselves. How refreshing that would be!

  • Shame on all of you who used this to criticize this very experienced professional. Mediaite had it right. Think about going on live TV without a script or even the facts to cover the segment. Ever had that dream about standing up in front of class in your underwear? She was living it…and with lots of grace. I have heard her in interviews and she is a gracious, intelligent, competent woman. I may not agree with her network or with some of her views but that doesn’t mean ripping her to shreds is ok. (I did think the primping in order to look disheveled was amusing, but that is the shallowness that is visual media.)

  • How about a PETA add on the property of a hamburger joint? Maybe a pro-life add on the property of an abortion clinic? Shall I go on? I think the “No one shall abridge my right to offend” clause in the constitution must be upheld. Oh, wait, it is private property rights that are in the constitution. Never mind.
