  • I’m glad to see Rick Warren and Richard Land speak out about this. As a Baptist I differ with Catholics on some points of theology, but I stand in solidarity with them on values. This is a freedom of religion issue. Obama took a first step at this when he insisted some Catholic adoption agencies adopt to gay couples; the agencies shut down rather than comply. Now he’s in a high stakes game of chicken with religious leaders over abortifacients and contraception; what he hopes is that the Catholic church will shut their hospitals and charities so that the government can take over. His goal is to remove the layer of civil society which churches provide that separates the government from the people. Am I the only one who sees this?

  • The newscaster, Kyle Dyer, was foolish to have her face so close to a strange dog’s mouth. When a dog is licking his lips like that one, it usually means he’s nervous. If he’s nervous, you want to back off. It‘s entirely Dyer’s fault for getting bitten; she’s supposed to be the smart one, and she didn’t read this dog correctly at all. The owner had hold of the dog’s collar and was restraining him throughout. There’s no way any stranger should have her face so close to the armed end of a dog, any dog.

I hope Dyer is not badly injured and that she heals quickly. I hope Max the Mastiff is not killed by Denver Animal Control and that Max will be returned to his family.

  • I’m sure God loves the Broncos. Why else are sunsets blue and orange? Just kidding, Browns fan.

  • Good for Tim Tebow and good job Ms. Engel. I continue to pray for Tebow and his family that they remain safe and strong in the Lord. Tebow has lifted up the Denver Broncos because of his fiery heart; retired college coach Bill McCartney said it the best “one man with his heart on fire can ignite a whole team and make them winners.” It‘s not Tim’s Christianity that does it but his fierce will to win on the field. Shutdown corner and future Hall of Famer Champ Bailey says he’s never been around anyone like Tebow and he knows Tebow will give 110% to win, so Bailey is going to give 120%. That’s what Tebow evokes in his teammates. They‘ve seen he’s real, he’s firm in his beliefs, he’s not a hypocrite, so whether they are Christians or not, they are with him.

I think many sportswriters are atheists or agnostics and have the notion that Christians are weak and uncompetitive and so they can’t believe Tebow is for real. Get over it. He’s the real deal.

  • The point of this article seems to have been missed by too many. Christians of all denominations are under attack by enemies ranging from secular progressives to radical Shariah based Muslims. While I don’t subscribe to some Catholic doctrines (I’m a Baptist), I would stand with my Catholic brothers in Christ like Charles Chaput against attacks on things all true Christians believe in such as the sanctity of life, the right to worship God and the right to talk about Him in the public square. These basic ideas are under attack now and the good Archbishop knows it all too well. Christians of whatever denominations must stand together to keep Christianity from being banished from the public square to the detriment of our society. That was Archbishop Chaput‘s message when he was Denver’s prelate and it is still his message in Philly.

  • Mormonism holds that God was once a man and became God; they also think that any man can become a god. Christians don’t believe this. It is unexceptional that a Baptist pastor would consider Mormonism a cult. If RINO Romney gets the nomination, and I hope he doesn’t, the Left will have no scruples whatsoever in painting him as a flaming, bigoted cult member once they investigate what Mormons believe. Neither Perry nor Jeffress owe anyone an apology. Did Obama ever apologize for Jeremiah Wright? No. So what’s with the ridiculous double standard of expecting a Republican to apologize for a Baptist pastor stating Baptist beliefs?

  • Very cool thing to have taught this dog! Labs are retrievers; they go get and bring back things. It’s a natural behavior used in a very practical way here.

  • Shoot, shovel and shut up. Those dam* liberals who make idiotic laws like this don’t live where there are serious predators. I wish they did.

  • Charles Chaput has always had the guts to stand up for Christianity. The national media simply paid him no attention when he was archbishop of Denver. Now in Philadelpha, he has the national platform and based on his past performance, I expect him to use it. He’s a great archbishop and someday I hope he will be a great cardinal.

  • Should Obama Take a Vacation Right Now?

    August 18, 2011 at 6:29pm

Sure he should take a vacation. As long as he keeps his mouth shut and stays there, he isn’t doing any more damage to our republic. He mentioned more stimulus and higher taxes before he left and today the stock market tanked again and gold peaked. It costs a lot less to keep the man out of the way than it does to have him open his mouth. Let’s buy him an island and maroon him there.
