  • Jellyfish Capitalism and the Jeremy Lin saga

    February 27, 2012 at 2:51pm

    Glenn,

I do love your definition and description of Jellyfish Capitalism here. It’s a keeper.
I hope you don’t mind if I borrow it form time to time.

  • @Dillotank,

Sin is sin is sin – all the rest is comparatively irrelevant implementation details from God’s perspective.
There is NO difference to him. You are either with Him or against Him. It really is just that simple.

Now you compared a child‘s deeds to an adult’s decision there – and that was your error.
God does draw a distinction between children and adults, one is responsible for their sins, and the other is not – rather, their parents are held to account for those by God’s standards.

Homosexuality is considered a ‘worse’ sin by many because of how it is continued – one cannot breed it into the next generation – on must instead _share it with another_ and thereby cause them to stumble into that type of sin. It is therefore doublly sinful thing. …and when our society has come to defend this as ‘a right’ – you have a stark measure of how far we’ve fallen away as a society.

We may each have a right to decide wrongly – a right granted by God, by should we embrace that which is wrong by His standards? He warns us not to.

    >In other words, his ambition was to be more like God instead of his own selfish desires. This is where it gets “sketchy” for us, but not God. Do we make excuses for our sins? Do we convince others that our sins should be accepted? Do we convince others to sin and ultimately lead them away from God?

This issue is not if we are sinners, because we all are. The issue is, are we making excuses for the sins we commit and teaching others to accept them and even commit the same sin.

    You have that *exactly right*.
Another place where this truth is expressed in scripture is Mat 6:24 – but read on old KJV or a version of the bible where "you cannot serve God and…" ends with the original word: Mammon (as opposed to "money" or some other translated words which don't quite hit the mark in English).
Mammon, was best defined by Matthew Henry in his comentaries on Mat 6:24. It is a syriac word, signifying GAIN. see section III under: Mat 6:19-24 at http://www.blueletterbible.org/commentaries/comm_view.cfm?AuthorID=4&contentID=1601&commInfo=5&topic=Matthew&ar=Mat_6_24

Understanding this will allow us a new understanding of the first and second commandments:
    Exd 20:2-6
Especially, to paraphrase and explain/clarify, Exodue 20:3 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me. " — especially not yourselves, your own wants and desires.

This is why Jesus said "No man can serve two masters" – either God or ourselves – but never both.
Which do you serve? My o

  • Ah, now THAT is what I call Medicine!
Notice – no large Pharmceutical companies were involved? no ongoing need for their PILLS?
…just thought it was worth mentinoing.

  • > Drive fast…turn left

To be honest, the turning LEFT part is the only _real_ problem I have with Nascar…shouldn’t we conservative-type folks be lobbying Nascar to at lesat runs some of the races the other way around the track once in a while? (so it’s: Drive fast…turn RIGHT) :-P

  • Dear Mr. President,

Can I be in your next pickup game? _please_?
(quickly orders a set of ACME Large Elbow Sledgehammer Heavy Metal Implants from the LooneyToons online store…)

  • Top of my mind on the possibilities here
    1) I reject the aircraft contrails explanation (wrong geometry)
    2) Top Secret test (which can’t be all the top secret if done in plain sight, but then…?)
    3) unlikely it was a foreign power *UNLESS* the DOD is in “denial mode” due to an extremely embarriaing lapse in allowing someone to get within 35 miles of our western shores with a launch capability…
    4) any SLBM would reaquire a Ballistic Missile Submarine, and the Navy’s SOUS network would have heard them coming and had a USN asset on their tails….
    5) an ALLIED naval SLBM/surface vessle is a possibility (taking part in missle/anti-missile tests?)
    6) more likely is a surface ship launch platform or a privately-financed launch – and either would also have been detected/detectable at the launch area by navy/Airforce surveilance assets. For certain. they SAW or HEARD whatever it was launched FROM (and almost certainly were able to track its movement in/around/from the launch area).
    7) IF it was a private launch vehicle, would the FAA still have jurisdiction of such launches 35 miles offshore? (thinking defense contractor or a “Farmer Brown/space cowboy” scenario…)

  • New Ad Ties Barney Frank to Fannie & Freddie

    October 25, 2010 at 3:54pm

    In reply to OBAMAWORSHIOER.

    Hey Nice presuming there @OBAMAWORSHIOER

Is there anything else you’d like to tell me about myself? Why not try doing what the left always like to do…tell me what I’m thinking. Go on, I just _love_ it when Libs try and tell everyone what I must be thinking or feeling (Oh, wait…let me guess, I “hate ****?”…right? Isn‘t that what you believe I’m _obviously_ thinking here today?)
Do everyone a favor, please. Stop trying to tell everyone what I or any other conservative(/”right-thinking”) people are thinking of feeling – because you all SUCK at it. (erm… perhaps that should be “ stink at it” in this instance to avoid any un-intended anti-“gay”-ish puns…or not.)

You don’t have even half a clue what we think or feel or why.

  • It’s about damned time this was put together and diseminated to the masses.

In this regard, Barney Frank was either Deliberatly BLIND to what was happening, or a total MORON for not understanding what was happening, or he was involved in the corrupt scheme up to his eyebrows (and likely beyond). no other thoughtful interpretation than these is possible given the facts.

It is well past time to toss this fellow out on his …keester, then investigare his role in all this mess VERY THOROUGHLY and if applicable, fit him with a flourescent orange jumpsuit for 20 or 30 years or so (and he would not deserve a “country club” level of confinement, either!).

  • NPR Apologizes…But Not to Williams

    October 25, 2010 at 2:42pm

    Vivian,

Face up to the facts, you had a temper tantrum and fired someone for NO REASON other than that.
As for your profession to standards or journolistic ethocs or whatever – don’t make me laugh. You have none, and unfortunately NPR, consequently, does not have an intellectually honest bone in all of your collective bodies. This all flows from the editorial slant pouring out from on high in NPRs management (and that means: YOU). Seriously, if you actually had any shread of decency or intellectual honesty within you, you would resign. Today.
