  • Other countries have been doing very similar projects as part of the Kyoto Protocol for the last 10 years. I worked on biodigester designs for agri farms in Mexico, South Africa, and several other not so industrialized countries back in 2004-2006. The client we were working for was essentially creating emission credits that they could sell to industry that was unable to meet the emission reductions as dictated in the Protocol. Personally, I thought it was a scheme where the only beneficiary was the middle man making the money on selling the credit. There really was no net reduction in emissions due to the emission trading. Most of the digesters we worked on produced enough energy to run the pumps on their system and maybe a light pole or two. Most of the projects used a flare to burn off the gas. When burned, the methane is converted to heat, water and CO2 and is no longer considered a greenhouse gas emission.

  • I live 25 miles from my office. The whole “green” energy idea is a scam and it hurts those of us who don’t live in big cities where public transportation is available the most.

  • All the employees who lose coverage from their employer will need to send out thank you notes to Obama for mandating them to BUY health insurance from the private insurance exchange. I’m sure it will be free or at least cheaper than what they were paying through their employer. Oh wait a minute. I think they are going to have to pay 100% of the monthly premiums for the coverage they purchase instead of the 20% or so they were paying while the employer was paying the other 80% pre-Obamacare. But don’t worry, you will get a portion of the premiums refunded when you file your taxes each year. I’m sure everyone will be so happy about this!!

  • And no one is suggesting that the current level of care should be eliminated. This uprising is about asking others to cover your expense for contraceptives and most especially mandating someone to go against their own religious doctrine in order to provide this “free” coverage to the masses.

  • This argument is just ludicrous. If you have a medical condition that requires medication you pay for it. No one orders your employer, insurance, doctors, pharmacy, etc to give it to you for FREE. My daughter has a life threatening disease, cystic fibrosis, and we pay around $100/month just in prescription co-pays. She’s only 4 y/o and since her disease is degenerative her medical needs are only going to increase with time. Without these meds she would literally stop breathing. But her condition is clearly NOT AS IMPORTANT as the very slim faction of women who need contraceptives to ward off cancer and keep their reproductive system healthy.

Has anyone considered the impact this access to free contraceptives is going to have in relation to STDs? If you are young and dumb and can get on the pill for free, why use a condom?

  • Lol

  • The same person will be paying for it which is the person/business/organization paying the insurance premiums. All he changed was the wording. It’s just like all the other “free” services Obamacare forced down everyone’s throat. The insurance companies don’t pay for these services out of their profits! The “free” coverage is paid for in the ever rising monthly premiums!!!

  • Lower tax rates tend to change the way people and especially businesses behave and in turn stimulate economic growth, which creates more, not less, tax revenues. This is not opinion; it’s FACT! Just look how revenues increased following the Kennedy Tax Cuts (1964), Raegan Tax Cuts (1981), and Bush Tax Cuts (2003). Tax revenues correlate with economic growth, not tax rates. It should also be noted that capital gains tax cuts create far greater economic growth than income tax cuts.

  • Jay-Z should be promoting support of charity which allows you the opportunity to support things that really matter to you. If you want to support education donate to literacy programs or straight to schools or universities. If you would prefer to support people in poverty donate to a food bank or Salvation Army. If you’d rather make medical care more accessible to someone support a free medical clinic. At least it’s your choice and you support only the charities you choose.

I think donations would nose dive if there was some national bank of charity that all donations went to where some random person got to distribute the money how they see fit (ie. government).

  • REALINDEPENDANT, I don’t at all believe most families have two parents working because of low wages. In my humble opinion, most families wish to live above their means requiring both parents to work to make ends meet. I know our family could live on one income if we wanted to but we wouldn’t have many of the luxuries we enjoy today (nice home, new cars, cell phones, internet, cable tv, etc.). I’m not sure how old you are but back in 1980 when I was a child the average home was 1,740 sf and in 2010 the average home is 2,392 sf (from census dot gov). That alone is likely one of the biggest factors requiring two wage earners for a family. With a larger home comes higher mortgages, taxes, and utilities.

Fortunately, we live in the greatest country on Earth and each family gets to decide what their top priorities are. If you want to have a parent stay at home to raise the children then you will have to live on one income. That’s your choice. I shouldn’t have to supplement you so you can have your cake and eat it too.

Also, the businesses participating with the job fair are most likely supporters of OWS movement or actually need to hire workers and figure starting with a group of educated but unemployed people is a good idea. Either way, good for them.
