  • The USMC should send every student in that school the same shirt. All the kids should wear it on the same day. That would make me smile!

  • Gryffn/Momrules…God bless you both. I’m not sure I could have survived if mine had taken even one breath or had cried at all. I just don’t know how I would have done it. I like to imagine our “little ones” up in Heaven greeting eachother as they come along…now perfect and whole and at peace.

  • Thank you, Mom…her name came to me out-of-the-blue and seemed perfect. I’d heard the name Lyric before and loved it. Autumn seemed fitting when you look at the coloring of all the attributes of her mom and dad. Mom is a dark haired/hazel eyed/dark complected white girl (I say that because in the summer I look hispanic/light skinned african-american!). Dad is a red-head with dark brown eyes (and the obligitory almost see-through skin! LOL). Autumn colors!! I really believe she would have been my red-headed, freckled, brown-eyed girl of which I dreamed…
God bless you all who have the littlest Angels waiting in Heaven.
I really believe that God chooses carefully who delivers Him the most precious gifts of innocent lives.

  • God bless you, little Grayson…give my Lyric a kiss from mommy.

I’m infuriated that anyone could think a beautiful baby boy could be too “graphic” of a photo.

May his parents have peace and comfort that he is with our Lord.

(Lyric Autumn born to Heaven June 14, 1996 due to anencephaly)

  • My daughter is a reader…anything with words that sits still she will read eventually and because of that reads well above her “grade level”. She read this when it first came out. She was 11 and she was hooked. Now that she’s a few years older, the librarians at her school ask her opinion on books to have in the library for the other students…they have multiple copies of this series and the waiting list for them is long.
I have read the first two (I’m just starting Mockingjay) and agree that they are wonderful for jr high/high school age and on up as long as adults remember that they were originally written as teen books.

Taking my daughter to see the movie on Saturday and am very excited!!

  • You’re allowed a home that you live in, one car, and assets (other cars, savings/checking [including in a minors name] accounts, boats, rental properties, etc.) can not total more than $5,000. You can not be a full-time college student. I’m assuming that without working they were well under the income limit so it would be one of those other things that would disqualify them. Sucks big-time to be jumping thru hoops when others seem to be able to just waltz right in and walk out with them!

  • A good majority of people that are getting food stamps ARE working already…you realize that, right?

  • Every county in the country, huh? Do you realize that Iowa has 99 counties alone??

  • We’re a family of 4 (one of our 3 children passed years ago) with one income right now as I’ve not worked outside the home since our youngest was born with significant health problems. I’m capable of working, however we live 40 miles from the nearest area hiring for night jobs. My husband works full time + overtime if he can get it during the day leaving only night work available for me since we refuse to use a daycare to raise our children. My inlaws have helped make up the difference on our mortgage more months than I care to think about. [We bought the house while I was working full-time also, our youngest at the time was 8 and we had no *plans* on having more children] We get beef and pork as half a cow and a pig from my inlaws, also, once a year. We pay for processing. We raise chickens for eggs and meat. We grow a large garden that we eat fresh and that I can/freeze for later use. We also receive food stamps. Why? Because we don‘t have a milk cow for dairy products and I can’t grow every type of fruit and vegetable that we might use out here. Have I bought Twinkies with the food stamps? Yes, once or twice as a special treat for the kids and the hubby. Have a bought a soda? Sure, when I didn’t have two nickles to rub together and my butt was dragging and I needed a boost.
Please remember, folks, not EVERYONE is milking the system all the time and the things you‘re using as generalizations also include those of us who aren’t.

“Ok, Mom. I’m loaded. Just give me the signal and I’ll drop the bomb!”
