  • Interesting point about PETA – I wonder if they have voiced any concerns over this as well…

  • Washington Monument to Remain Closed Indefinitely?

    In reply to freedomofspeech.

@Jesusfreak95 – the video camera would likely begin shaking before people really started realizing what was going on – that’s probably why it seemed so long – also people don’t start reacting until the more violent shaking – they were still just standing around taking pictures (I viewed the other 3 videos as well) for the first few seconds.

And I think the guy running back up may have been a teacher or chaperone for that group of kids that was there. So he ran back up to make sure his group had all started to evacuate.

  • I don‘t think I’d qualify under your request for those with “scholarly knowledge”, but I don‘t think it’s necessary in order to answer at least your question about the crusaders… it’s because they were blinded by sin. Ugliness and sin – something that affects every human being on the planet, regardless of religion or lack thereof. No amount of scholarly thought could justify the crusades.

And guess what?! Looks like God answered your question from when you were a kid! lol. They speak English now so we can understand:) The Catholic Church is not perfect and doesn’t pretend to be – every one of it’s members, including the Pope, is subject to sin. The Church is like a mother – there to guide us and do her best to teach us, but we do know that she also is not perfect.

  • Somebody already brought up Nick Vujicic – but he’s worth bringing up again in response to this story!

Who are we to decide who‘s life is worth living and who’s is not…. and I‘ll add that it’s very disturbing to me that these parents are saying now, that after their son has been born and been a part of their lives for 3 years, that they wish they would have known about his disability so they could have aborted him. I can only hope that they *just* wanted the money and worded the lawsuit in such a way that gave them the best chance of winning (still not ethically admirable, but better than regretting the fact that they missed out on the chance to kill their son!!) – I can only hope that they truly do love their son and are thankful that he is a part of their life.

  • I’ve been thinking about this story – putting myself in this position and imagining if it were my child – even at 6, I would not be criticizing the police for using the pepper spray. In fact, I’d be happy that A. they used the spray instead of a taser or something more extreme, and B. that they were able to stop him before he hurt himself or committed a serious crime by seriously injuring someone. I‘d be thankful that the officers used appropriate force against my child and did not put themselves in the position to become his ’victims’ by trying to wrestle the stick out of his hands.

  • That’s sad… looks to me like a seizure caused him to fall in the water and drown. Who knows if the seizure would have killed him if he hadn’t fallen in:( Poor thing… and I agree that it’s interesting thinking about the possibility that his mother knew something was up and her instinct kicked in and she rejected him…

  • My sincerest prayers are with her as she recovers physically and emotionally. How horrible.

  • This mother and her child are in my prayers. What a horrible situation.

    In reply to klevalt.

Amen. God bless and protect each and every one of our soldiers and their families.

  • SGTB,

I was referring to comments like “that’s way too funny”, “crybaby”, “sooooooo stupid”. “idiot”, “he better be blind”, “idiot cry baby” – and that’s only the first page of comments.

I agree with calling a spade a spade, (although I personally tend to prefer to avoid calling a child ‘stupid’ regardless…) and I am not even saying that I think the lawsuit is warranted – all I‘m saying is that I think it’s sad and unfortunate that so many on here have resorted to name calling and immature comments in order to defend their position.
