  • Their statement was simple. The PUBLIC rallying cry of the tea party has been less government, but how much less? That part has never been defined and so they took it to the extreme for comedy.

  • He w romanticizing the series, that’s all. Didn‘t work the best but considering how many broadcasts he does a year and how many years he’s been doing it, hes allowed a flub here and there.

Also, considering his constant companion, Don Cherry, I think it‘s safe to say Ron’s job is plenty safe.

  • It’s almost like her “apology” is really a sarcastic response. Good on her for standing by her views instead of walking them back over a little online outrage.

Why is it disparaging to say Catholics spend way too much time and effort on Mary? Look at the amount of art devoted to Mary inside churches and the fact that there are direct prayers to her. Given the first two commandments how is this not idolatry?

I see no difference between this group and what groups like Million Moms and Florida Family Association do in organizing their members to threaten to boycott networks and advertisers of shows and projects they don’t agree with. If it’s okay for one group to do it, then it should be for all groups. How can one side be “economic terrorists” and the other standing up for what’s right in society?

  • Is it just me, or is putting this article under the faith header stretching just a little?

  • The funny thing is that the article does provide some context that, combined with the quality of the drawings, tells me what was most likely going on.

From the FIRST sentence in the article “This curious flyer was handed out to students studying the history of the Cold War”

So odds are this was an old piece of Cold War propaganda in favour of communism. So it actually makes sense. When we studied the 50′s in high school we watched everything from “Duck and Cover” to “Rebel Without A Cause”. This was all about getting an understanding of the time by looking at it’s artifacts.

You’re right, they may not act like Christians. But the Dose’s point still stands, there hasn’t been one openly atheist leader of the USA. And most, if not all, elected officials at the federal level have to at least claim to be connected to some religion in order to be elected.

So when the majority of elected officials, including the President, and/or the majority of Americans claim to be atheists, maybe the whole “We’re being attacked” claim will hold some water. Until then it’s nothing more than Everest being picked at by a dental pick.

  • Don‘t forget the show isn’t shown live, it is pre-taped roughly 6-7 hours before it went to air, unless the tweet is from 5 to 6pm then he tweeted it when the show was airing, not when he decided to play the song. Given that I’m willing to accept it was a spur of the moment decision. That doesn’t justify the behavior, but it does break down the whole “Had to be planned he tweeted it” argument.

  • A screen-grab worth a 1000 words?

Not really that surprising. Most of the pop-up ads are based on your browsing habits and keywords in your cookies.

Same reason I’ve got ads for the Toronto Blue Jays and the latest video game titles.
