Once-Homeless Teen Headed to Harvard After Working as a Janitor to Get Ahead: ‘It Depends on You and No One Else’

What a wonderful story! I’m proud of her, well, except for the going to Harvard part. Now she’ll probably turn out to be some liberal politician or lawyer for the ACLU!

Hunter states, “Government can’t change lives, but they have resources we don’t have….“ I would like to remind this ”man of God” that God, our creator, IS the biggest resource! Mr. Hunter might also be forgetting all the overhead and bureaucracy that tax dollars have to pay for but tithing dollars do not.

@Diane, God bless you! I’m with you on a lot of what you say however I do beg to differ on one important issue. Peter was not the first pope. The Catholic church was not started until approximately 350AD. Peter and the other apostles were part of the purest form of the Christian Church – before it was watered down and defiled by denominations and people who wanted to control others by twisting the truth. Catholics only say that Peter was the first pope to bring more credibility to their form of Christianity. If you research the actual Greek wording used in the Bible the word for Peter was “petros” or “little stone”. Yes, Peter is one of the foundational stones of Christianity but it is Christ who is the “Corner Stone”, the standard that everyone else is to be fashioned after. Christianity is built on Christ, not Peter or anyone else. For a little more background, see http://www.equip.org/perspectives/the-first-pope, and for more see (not as gentle as the 1st site but still has a lot of truth and good information) http://www.ianpaisley.org/article.asp?rome_peter.htm . Again, God bless you for your desire to stand up for the one true God and his Son, Jesus Christ!

@Surhansurhan: Jesus of Nazareth underwent Jewish and Roman trials, was flogged, and was sentenced to death by crucifixion. The scourging produced deep stripelike lacerations and appreciable blood loss, and it probably set the stage for hypovolemic shock, as evidenced by the fact that Jesus was too weakened to carry the crossbar (patibulum) to Golgotha. At the site of crucifixion, his wrists were nailed to the patibulum and, after the patibulum was lifted onto the upright post (stipes), his feet were nailed to the stipes. The major pathophysiologic effect of crucifixion was an interference with normal respirations. Accordingly, death resulted primarily from hypovolemic shock and exhaustion asphyxia. Jesus‘ death was ensured by the thrust of a soldier’s spear into his side. Modern medical interpretation of the historical evidence indicates that Jesus was dead when taken down from the cross.

First, just because you have the right to do something doesn’t mean you should do it or that it is good to do it. Second, if that girl doesn’t learn how to get her point across in a polite way before she graduates from high school she may never learn. Third, when she went to the state capitol she was with her school group, therefore, any public comments she makes about the trip she makes she is making as a representative of the school. Therefore, she should have gotten the okay from her school and fellow classmates to post those comments.

I don’t know who that lady or any of those men are but what is truly disgusting is that thousands or perhaps even millions of people will believe what they said just because they said it. Newt was right-on!
