  I see your point — I winced when I realized what was coming — but SP’s point is that the Jersey Shore kids are even worse for American culture than Al Qaeda. And from a purely cultural standpoint — meaning the influence those idiots have on the culture — an argument can be made.

  In a nutshell: people like Moulitsas create a narrative — which can more accurately be described as a lie — that they use as leverage to achieve their ends, as unrealistic ends cannot be achieved through honest means.

  But the wonder of it is, as evidenced here, they eventually come to believe their own lies, because they repeat them one time too many. Lies repeated enough never actually become true, they are simply accepted as truth amongst the liars who need them to be true.

  Now why would any firms need or want an exemption from a fair and functional system? More importantly, why would the Administration be willing to grant it, if they believe it to be so?
