  • Every time someone waves that racism flag without cause, it dimishes acts of actual racism. I have African American clients who come in to my establishment everyday who disagree with the current administration, many of whom didn’t vote for Barack Obama. In fact one is the president of the university here where I live. Are they uneducated racists? Or is that different? I really don‘t understand how the NAACP thinks it’s ok for their founding ideals to be trampled just because a bunch of liberals are trying to keep their jobs and in this election, it’s the only card they have left.

  • Perhaps the media should be a little more aware of who they are giving a platform to, and the backlash when deciding to run a story. Why is some frustrated guy in Florida declaring a “Burn a Koran Day” at his church news worthy? We’re all frustrated by just about everything going on right now, and I get the point they guy was trying to make but running a story like that in light of world affairs is just irresponsible. Doesn’t anyone in the media ever stop and think “What emotions is this going to evoke , and what’s the worst case scenario as a result of my telling this story?” I mean seriously, could anything good happen? Reporter runs the story…threats are made, guy burns books anyway, more retaliation… OR Reporter runs story…threats are made, guy decides not to burn books, and radical Islam now sees us as weak because we backed down because of their threats. I like to be informed about current events but maybe next time, just don’t run the story.

I hate to be “that person” but we are a nation of laws. So unfortunately it comes down to ‘IS IT CONSTITUTIONAL OR ISN’T IT’? No one wants their rights violated, but lately it seems like it‘s more important for us to yield to political correctness because no one wants to be slapped in the face by someone else’s blatent insensitivity. If we want to be what we were intended to be then we have to celebrate the right of an American citizen to burn a copy of the Koran, a Bible or an American Flag in protest. We don’t write laws based on the emotions associated with acts or crimes against individuals, we write them based on the God given rights of individuals for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. So if burning a copy of the Koran makes this guys week seem a little better, go for it. But to let the media get a hold of the story was just irresponsible. The fact of the matter is, there are people out there who not only want to see the country of Israel wiped off of the globe, but to see all God fearing Americans DEAD. Whether we believe radical Islam will usher in the 12th Imam or not, THEY believe they can and will, and wiping out Americans and Isralies is how they will do it. To me this story is more about responsible journalism than some idiots right to build a mosque or another idiots right to burn a book.
