@Blackhawk1 Right Champ, exactly what I said their intent probably was. Try and read something completely and understand what is being said before you agree or disagree with it. My case in point. I for one would love to see an anti-solicitation regulation in my town as we seem to be on a church of ladder day saints training route for new spreaders of the word.

If you don’t like people sharing their beliefs you can always move to communist China. They have anti-prosolyting(sp?) laws in full force over there. I for one welcome anyone to share their beliefs with me. I simply reserve the right to believe or not as I see fit.

  • I think Ben Stein hit the nail on the head with his 2005 remarks that have been circulating recently. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=1134772n&tag=mncol;lst;2

It is about time we of faith stand up and declare that freedom of religion is NOT synonymous with freedom from religion. Like it or not this country was founded on Christian principles and were that not the case the good ole’ US of A would not have grown to be the nation it is (or at least was). If an individual wants to remove God from their life, that’s fine. It’s their choice, but when they try to remove Him from my life by force, fear, or policy, that is where I draw the line. I, for one, want and need divine influence in my life and I defy anyone to take that away from me.

  • Two statements:

    1) An individual’s religious beliefs should have no bearing in the political arena. Judge a politician by their policies and politics (a strange idea, I know).

    2) Having read and prayed about the Book of Mormon, applying the promise it contains that, ” if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost.” (Moroni 10:4) I can testify that it is true. Take that or leave it as you will. I know what I know and invite anyone who is interested to read the book and find out for themselves.

    In reply to MAN007.

I think don’t ask, don’t tell was a great rule. I served in the Marine Corps and I really couldn’t care less whether one of my fellows was gay, straight, bi, whatever. Along with that, I really didn’t need to know about it and have their personal preference shoved down my throat. Let people make their lifestyle choices and let me make mine.

  • @DianeTX: To be fair, Mormons no longer have multiple wives and haven’t had that practice for over 100 years.

About this story, this is just a sad state of affairs that a city code like that was even put on the books. That is the main problem, not the fact that it was being enforced. Get rid of the unconstitutional law.
