  • Yes, many military applications have found their way into civilian life. You know why they start in the military? Because that’s where we put the resources! If you took the same $Trillions and gave it to MIT, Cal Tech, and many other top engineering schools and said, “Go invent something,” they would do far more for the civilian sector than Lockheed, etc. ever would. I’m not opposed to military spending (within reason), but we should be funding defense spending because of the military value, not for some hoped for spillover value to non-military uses.

  • My question is, is there no limit to to the exotic war junk that we will go further into debt for? Would we pay $100K per copy? $10 million per Iron Man suit? Does it ever end? On the one hand, I would want my child, spouse, parent to have every advantage on the battlefield. But seriously, where does it end?

  • Cry me a river. I’m more concerned about the government using doctors to spy on patients. We used to have a protected doctor-client relationship in this country. Today, in the name of watching for “abuse”, the medical profession is obligated to inform on people if they even suspect “abuse.” Children are asked by doctors if their parents own firearms, dentists can report kids who have too many cavities, and heaven help you if you tell your counselor that you spanked your kids. So now doctors who have jumped into bed with government social engineers are getting it back? Kind of sweet justice in a way.

  • No, “Tea Party” wasn’t on the ballot. But “Democrat” was.

  • Look at it from our perspective, Mr. President. You ran as a reasonable consensus builder, and you turn out to be a radical pedal-to-the-metal leftist who seems to want to remake America in the image of a European socialist state. We don’t want that. Repeat: NO! And we’re not going to sit idly by and let you do it. If you want to call that fear, so be it.

  • It sounds like there are lots of definitions of “yoga” out there. Relaxation, meditation, contemplation, etc. are certainly not contradictory to Jesus. Is that “yoga?” I doubt Dr. Mohler has any argument with those practices.

On the other hand, Wikipedia says this:
“The goals of yoga are varied and range from improving health to achieving Moksha.[43] Within Jainism and the monist schools of Advaita Vedanta and Shaivism, the goal of yoga takes the form of Moksha, which is liberation from all worldly suffering and the cycle of birth and death (Samsara), at which point there is a realisation of identity with the Supreme Brahman. In the Mahabharata, the goal of yoga is variously described as entering the world of Brahma, as Brahman, or as perceiving the Brahman or Atman that pervades all things.[99] For the bhakti schools of Vaishnavism, bhakti or service to Svayam bhagavan itself may be the ultimate goal of the yoga process, where the goal is to enjoy an eternal relationship with Vishnu.”

Is that “yoga?” It certainly isn’t Christian and Dr. Mohler, as a leader in his denomination, has a duty to say so.

  • Jesus does not call his disciples to enforce morality or godliness on anyone, nor to defend God’s honor. I can admire this woman’s passion, but it is misguided. Jesus attracts us with love; he doesn‘t compel us with fear and he didn’t come to condemn the world but to save it (his words). Christians need to get this. We are not the Trinity’s Taliban, and people who don’t love Jesus are not our enemies. Our job is to love, the rest is God’s job.

  • Sen. Hatch is obviously right on this issue. And it doesn’t matter if they are a religion or a political ideology, both are protected in this country by our Constitution. This is not a difficult question.

Newt’s idea of making the area a national battlefield memorial is interesting. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/gingrich-stop-the-mosque-make-ground-zero-a-national-battlefield-memorial/

[Aside: What happened to Sen. Hatch? He used to be consistently conservative. Glad to see him on the right side on this issue anyway.]

  • I thought I would be opposed to this before I listened to it because if we’re going to return this nation to the Constitution, we have to return to the whole Constitution, and that means Muslims have as much right to worship here (or not) as Baptists or atheists. I say that as one who is philosophically opposed to Islam.

However, Newt makes a good argument for an interesting idea, one that makes a statement to the Islamic murderers, Muslims who claim to want to be a part of America and not subjugate it, and to the rest of the nation and world. And it makes that statement without unconstitutionally trampling on religious freedoms (I think).

    Good job, Newt.

    In reply to Belcurry.

No, I think Belcurry is talking about the rest of your “wisdom.” You are a sorry little troll and your off-topic, myopic slaps only confirm the suspicions that you are a mere Soros tool.

Yes, some moderation would be helpful to keep these comments from being overrun by the terminally irrelevant. Even a captcha might suffice for DoubleDipStick.
