  • I may need to stand corrected. I blamed Jimmy Carter and the passage of the CRA in ‘77. But that played on the federal government insuring risk through the use of Taxpayer dollars in the Glass-Steagall Act of ‘33 (another Dem in control).

  • @JZS, You are sure “shovel ready”.

The reason I am in the automotive industry is because my industry (construction) was decimated by Jimmy Carter in 1977 with the enactment of the CRA. I actually am in the automotive industry by the means of acts that Glenn Beck espouses. I had a friend that knew I needed a break (and any form of a break, no matter how “below my pay-scale” it would be) and offered a entry level position.

Funny how a conservative will ride out a storm in any calm bay while the liberal heads full steam into the rocks.

  • @ JZS, You are too easy.

“He was trying to compare the layoffs that Bain was responsible for with the saving the auto industry in the US. Wasserman pointed out the President Obama saved 10s of thousands of jobs in the industry itself, and, something the Republicans forget, the jobs of the thousands of vendors that sell to the auto industry. ”

How do you say that 10s of thousands of jobs were “saved” when all of the big 3 shut plants down in the US and dealerships (definately in GM’s case) were forced to close? How do you explain Ford‘s recent success in regaining it’s credit rating and it’s logo rights (which it had put up as collateral on a loan to help restructure) while GM and, more-so, Chrysler bilked the US Taxpayer for billions?

I work for one of the Big 3 and I can tell you that you are full of BS. All Obama did was give the UAW full reign over Chrysler, partial reign over GM, and Ford one heck of a scare. Fortunately Ford saw through his BS and did what they needed to ON THEIR OWN.

There are no great tales of survival in the suppliers. They have gotten there proverbials kicked. Just try to find a OEM part labeled “Made In The USA”.

  • I do need to clarify however. American Airlines is a private business and therefore can do what they wish as far as dress code. So I get to commend both parties in this.

  • And I am Marilyn Monroe.

  • In his video he talks about how no demon rat (democrat) was able to win in ‘10, but he did. He showed his colors.

  • I am with you on this SolitudeBliss.

Even though I think her intent is to promote abortion, free speech, even if it goes against my beliefs, should be just that. There is a line somewhere, but we have not fully determined where.

I can remember a t-shirt I bought in FL while on vacation shortly after high school. Let’s just say it had language that was probably as vulgar as the S.E. photo and was seen by more people than will ever see the S.E. photo.

  • I see a lot of Ron Paul comments in this thread. WWRPD? How would Ron Paul (the God of all Gods, the savior of all saviors, the one who delivers babies while voting against pork that somehow gets to his district.) handle the automotive industry?

Mitt Romney (and trust me, I was no Mitt fan.) has direct experience in taking a failing situation (a company), trimming out all of the fat, and making the most out of the least. Sounds like he may be a pretty good fit for our nation right now.

Is he perfect? NO! But nor is Ron Paul who is a better baby catcher than a leader.

  • Be careful of assuming it is a “comfortable lead”. I am weary of headlines such as that because it is designed to lull people into a sense that their vote is not really necessary. The unions will be busing in dead people from Chicago, the college kids that live in other states will miraculously have voted. This is not a given people.

  • This ad has all of the fixens’ of a perfect liberal/socialist ad. It encompasses the three key components to their mantra this election cycle (and throws in a couple of extras).

The three keys for the DNC are…
    1) Tax the rich.
    2) Use that as an excuse to prop up failed social spending
    3) Blame the other party for “creating the mess”.

He gets bonus points for utilizing Tea Party language every now and again to distract from his message.
