  • Seriously, just go away. You spew this same crazy venom whenever you post about any religion. I smell a liberal troll trying to start fights amongst religious conservatives.

  • This is an honest question, not an indictment… but don’t the Baptists have any control over who can represent their faith as a Baptist Pastor and start a Baptist Church? (e.g. this guy, westboro, etc).

  • @NHWINTER –

Well said. In order for these guys to be able to fully control society, they need to eliminate/diminish religious freedoms – which allow loyalty to and dependence on God rather than government.

I am a Mormon, but I firmly stand side by side with the Catholics and every other religion in defense of religious freedom!

Please read this excellent speech on religions uniting to protect all of our religious freedoms. Yes, it was given by a member of the Twelve Apostles from my church, but it was given at Chapman University School of Law. His credentials to speak on such a topic are impeccable (Elder Oaks is a graduate of Brigham Young University (1954) and of the University of Chicago Law School (1957). He practiced law and taught law in Chicago. He was president of Brigham Young University from 1971 to 1980 and a justice of the Utah Supreme Court from 1980 until his resignation in 1984 to accept his calling to the apostleship. He has been an officer or member of the board of many business, educational, and charitable organizations.)

Here’s another excellent speech on religions uniting to protect religious freedom given by Cardinal George at BYU:

Time to UNITE to protect our freedoms!

looks like WHKELL was just another hit-and-run anti-mormon. Or maybe he felt the spirit and saw the error of his ways? :)

  • @RISEANDSHINE –

LOL – you know what, I often need to simplify things don’t I? :) I’m an attorney, so I tend to get a bit long winded and go on too long… thanks for the refreshing answer!

PS – I would vote for Ron Paul over Obama any day of the week. He ran (and is still sort of running) an honorable campaign.

  • @WEST COAST PATRIOT

Again, just to make sure the point is made clearly, do you believe that Moses, Abraham, Jacob, and Nathan were false prophets because the Lord later revoked the law of plural marriage? If so, you might need to cut out quite a few books of the bible since “if they were wrong on this, then they were no prophets in your book.” Thus, the Lord was never wrong on instituting polygamy at times and taking it away at others, he is the Lord – he can do that :)

Okay, I think you get my point. As to your question regarding if we should attack Iran if they continue to develop nuclear weapons – well, that depends.

It depends on how solid our intelligence is. It depends on what our Generals say. It depends on what Iran claims it will do with it. It depends on how close they are. It depends on if our sanctions are working. It depends on the readiness of our forces. It depends on our allies in the area working with us, and it depends on many other things.

I think the libertarians misunderstand republicans. We never WANT to go to war. We do however, understand the realities of this world and don’t pretend that bad guys go away if you ignore them. War is disgusting. You and I have both served in the military during wartime and have many friends that are jacked up because of it. We also want to end the wars as soon as possible, but not before the job is done.

Thus, its too big a choice to make without all the factors answered.

  • @Westcoast –

Sorry man, I honestly forgot to get to yours after the novel I wrote for Mutiny :)

First off; nice one – jack mormon – ha, I get it :) As for your polygamy question, I’m sure you read the scriptures quoted above regarding Nathan the Prophet speaking in behalf of the Lord Himself saying that He gave David his many wives (and yes, those many wives were taken away by the Lord after David committed adultery and murder). The Prophet Nathan endorsed it, and Moses, Abraham and Jacob (including other less known Prophets) practiced polygamy. As cited above, the Lord has even at times given his laws pertaining to plural marriage. Do you think Nathan, Moses, Abraham, and Jacob were all false prophets because they practiced polygamy? Do you doubt the Lord himself for giving David his wives and then taking them away? Of course, there are other times in the Bible where polygamy was banned. So if you want to know why the Lord sometimes initiates it and then sometimes bans it, you better ask Him. :) But those are the facts jack :) Thus, Joseph Smith is no less a true prophet than Moses, Abraham, Jacob, and Nathan. Would you have left the ranks of Israelites who followed Moses in the wilderness once you found out he was a polygamist? If so, you would not have been alone, plenty of people rejected the prophets in the past… but unfortunately it didn’t turn out well for them in the end.

  • @MUTINY –

Regarding the Mormon Extermination Order – LOL – I guess you‘re only a libertarian who believes in personal freedoms when it doesn’t involve mormons! From all people, I would expect a Paulestinian to be completely infuriated at an executive order that would state:

“[T]he _______ (fill in the blank with any religion) must be treated as enemies, and must be exterminated or driven from the State…”

You act like legalizing the extermination of and/or forcible removal from their rightfully owned property is nothing more than a traffic ticket.

Thanks, I learned a lot about Ron Paul supporters today.

BTW – you still haven’t answered me – are you a pastor, minister, preacher, etc. in any capacity? I just can’t figure out how you have so much time on your hands to attempt to degrade another religion just because we interpret the Bible differently than you. I, on the other hand, have all the time in the world to defend my own religion – but don’t have the time to research and attack your religion. In fact, I‘ve never even asked you what your religion is because I don’t attack others’ beliefs, I only share my own.

  • @MUTINY:

oops – got cut off at the end:

I was saying that Paul could help you out on this one too. 2 Corinthians 2:14 “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ…”

Do you suppose that Christ did not triumph over his foes because he was crucified? No! Christ triumphed over all, including death. Likewise the Prophet Joseph Smith triumphed over those who thought that murdering him would end Christ’s true church. No! Because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is literally Christ’s church on the earth today, it continues to grow. In fact its one of the fastest (if not the fastest) growing religion in the world. It continues to roll forth like a stone and will one day fill the whole earth. Daniel 2:34-35. I will pray that you will have the spirit testify to you that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is lead today by Christ through a living Prophet. Its not too late for you brother. All you need to do is pray about it with a sincere heart. :)
