  • The value of the churches is all in their land and churches (some churches like Saint Peter’s Basilica are virutally priceless museums – how do you tax something that’s priceless). Why would you want churches taxed so that the government can get even bigger, more intrusive, and create more dependency?

  • I don‘t think Rove’s analysis is accurrate. I live in Colorado. If the election were held today, I’m pretty confident Romney would win Colorado. At a minimum, I don’t think Romney would lose by more than 4 points difference. Rove has him losing by 13. There’s no way that can be true, based on what I’m seeing on the ground here.

  • Did Jesus Christ Really Exist?

    In reply to RRRRRRR.

There is a miracle of Jesus that is with us to this day. It is the 1.8 billion Christians in the world who believe because of the faith of Jesus and his followers. Many of the apostles and disciples where persecuted with torture and death and refused to renounce their belief that Jesus was the savior. Eventually this peaceful persistence in faith led to Christianity becoming a dominant world religion. Many have been martyred over the past 2,000 years for their faith. The persistence and growth of the Christian Community, against persecution and revilement, is the on-going miracle of Jesus Christ.

  • As a Santorum contributor I certainly am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, in this case, it definately sounds to me like he was going to say the n-word. He stopped when he said “nic” or “nig”. Why would he stop saying a word and move on without correcting himself and saying what he intended to say? The only reason someone would do that is if one realized in mid-stream that he was going to say something inappropriate. At best, there might be another word that fits, but he felt it might be misinterpreted or misunderstood. If that’s the case, he should come out and say that “this was the word I was going to use and here‘s why I didn’t use it”. I must say that this is very discouraging.

  • Mittenskittens is right on!

  • I agree, but why doesn’t the heartland instutute respond with “who cares? It’s our business to decide the point of view of our organization”. Are they on record as being in support of “climate change”?

  • So why is it a scandal for an organization to have a specific opinion and strategy regarding “climate change”?

  • The the Blaze to post this with the question of Rush’s endorsement shows a lack of journalistic integrity. Rush has not officially endorsed anyone!

  • Dittos.

  • This speech was the greatest assault on freedom and capitalism I’ve heard from any president or presidential candidate from the two parties. I don’t even think Mondale or Dukakis were this outrageous in their speeches. That being said, I don’t think this was anywhere near the worst thing to be said during the speech. The president runs the executive branch which is where all federal agencies reside. Wanting congress to grant the president the power to consolidate and streamline the executive branch is not, in itself, inherently unconstitutional. I wouldn‘t plant my flag on this part of the speech the way Glenn is because I think there’s many, far worse things that the president said in this speech that I think more clearly illustrate the threat. I don’t think the average person will understand the point that Glenn is trying to make on this particular statement in the speech, because most people would agree with the idea of streamlining the federal bureaucracy. The average person won’t understand that, when combined with the rest of the speech and Obama’s history, the president is really asking for dictatorial power.
