  JB, you hit the nail on the head. What most here don’t understand is that this is OUR first amendment right! You may not agree with their message or their cause but they have every right to peacefully demonstrate. Sitting in a line with arms locked and legs crossed seems pretty peaceful to me, and if these cops (paramilitary force) was so worried about the crowd, then why didn’t they pepper spray them instead of the few sitting on the ground? For the rest of you, you may decry them now but tomorrow when you want to stand up for your right and get a face full of pepper spray, will you still think the police did the right thing?

  The basic lack of understanding concerning the fractional reserve banking system displayed by some here is simply incomprehensible! May I suggest reading Modern Money Mechanic’s https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=sites&srcid=ZGVmYXVsdGRvbWFpbnx0em1jaW5jaXxneDo0N2YyOTJkMmFlMTIzMzg1&pli=1 published by The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago! Pay particular attention to how the money supply is “expanded”. In short, if you deposit $1,000 in the bank, that bank can then loan out up to 9 times that amount. So even though the bank may only have $1,000 cash on hand it now has $10,000 on its balance sheet. So if you go into that bank and take your money out, the bank in turn must now call in the loan(s) it made using your money as its base. This is typical of all major banks. Now consider the state of US banks today, stretched to their limits by the recession, housing bubble, CDO’s and the like and you begin to see the problem. Now take $4.5 billion of customer deposits out in one weekend (which will only increase as time goes on). For anyone following along, that’s $40.5 billion in loans that must be called in (that is of course the banks where stretched to their limit, which today most are). The truth is, the banks are terrified! With good reason!

  Sorry to disappoint but no! The fact of the matter is the majority of our founders where in fact NOT Christians. Franklin and Jefferson where Deists, Washington harbored a Pantheistic sense, John Adams began a Congregationalist and ended a Unitarian and Hamilton was a lukewarm Anglican for most of his life but embrace a more actively Christian posture after his son died in a duel. The one thing they all had in common was their belief that a man that is ruled by religion would always fall back on his “faith” while ignoring facts. They were driven by science and reasoning seeking truth through evidence and knew religion would contaminate the process. That is why they proclaimed in the first amendment for the need for the separation of church and state. Worship who you will, but keep it out of the decision making process.

  Furthermore, Norway’s approach is more about rehabilitation than punishment. Norway has no death sentence and no life sentence yet their crime rate is far below ours.
