  • I guess that’s why Mrs. Obama attended a Nascar event supporting the troops. Nascar with its overwhelmingly diverse fanbase and large number of non-white drivers…

  • FISHSTXX:

Let’s not forget that our right to free speech does not mean we are free from criticism regarding what we say, rather it protects us from governnment retaliation or censorship. The First Amendment only provides protection from government censorship (in limited cases), not from private actors. Thomas may be free from government censorship but not criticism. You admonishing individuals for criticizing Thomas’ choice to “snub Obama” is actually antithetical to the very freedom that you so cherish.

  • CarbonEyes:

I have to disagree with your statement as Obama’s popularity with the “Wall Street Fat-Cats” has actually declined. Mitt Romney has more than doubled the support received by Obama from Wall Street.

“Obama raised $1.6 million through Sept. 30 from securities and investment industry employees and their families. Romney, founder of the Boston-based private equity firm Bain Capital LLC, has more than doubled that, bringing in $3.6 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Four years ago, Obama raised $16 million from Wall Street; Romney, who dropped out of the Republican nomination race on Feb. 7, 2008, collected $5 million.”

  • I guess by utilizing that same standard, Jesse Owens should be considered a less-than admirable American due to him reportedly “shaking hands with Adolf Hitler” after his record-breaking Olympic performance. If a man such as Owens (who might have more of a reason for contention than Mr. Thomas i.e. Hitler blatant racist views) could respect the OFFICE and sovereignty of another country’s leadership, why can’t Mr. Thomas. May I say this display of class and ultimately supreme performance offered by Jesse Owens in ‘36 will always be the definition of upholding the values of freedom, liberty, and American exceptionalism that so many of us feel has departed. Many of us need to ask ourselves, despite our political differences, have we allowed our extreme dislike of Barack Obama to erode our respect for the OFFICE.
