Just as it’s nearly impossible to discuss issues of fairness and politics with the left, I have little concern with ‘why’ Ms. Collins wrote what she wrote. I suspect her view of America is not unlike Obama‘s or any good leftist who attributes this nation’s greatness to luck, theft and colonial oppression. The fundamental difference between the left and the right is the left’s belief that luck and unfairness creates wealth, from a reservoir of fixed amount of wealth.
Anyone who has succeeded knows that luck has little to do with it for most. It’s about hard work, making the responsible choices, and trying to be self-reliant. All three of these traits are constantly attacked by the left, though, since their goal is a society of government dependency and support. Dependency is bred by laziness, making the wrong choices, and a willingness to demand from others what you need to sustain your lifestyle. All of these traits are pushed by the left through every policy and program they implement.
I loved the Hunger Games series. It was a great story, and seemed to parallel almost exactly what the Marxist agenda of Obama and his radicals will result in if successful; a government elite that controls industry and oppresses the masses for its benefit. It actually equates to colonial America under British oppression, until revolution threw off the tyrant and freedom and liberty were born.
We have NY Supreme Court Judge Lucy Billings to thank for this. She’s a Democrat, graduated from UC Berkeley. She’s also a former ACLU lawyer. Good thing she’s not in a position to defy laws and city concerns, huh? Check out her profile at http://bit.ly/sDbvCA
I was in Rome in 2004 when George Bush visited the Vatican. In the days prior the Communist rainbow flags were flying everywhere and on the day of his arrival, 25,000 protestors were there waving their Communist flags. Upon my return home I made a point to check my local Seattle Times for coverage of the protests, and NOWHERE in the Times coverage was a single mention of the Communist influence or backing of the protests. I wrote the International Editor and asked him why such an important aspect of the story had been omitted? After all, it would have shown that the protests were what you’d expect from Communists, instead of the perception that they were targeting Bush, as the Times story not so subtly implied.
His response was that the Communist influence was not newsworthy. Not that they’d missed it, or were unaware, but not important to the reader of the story.
Was not my first, or last interaction with the leftist Seattle Times, but it certainly was one of the more blatant examples of leftist bias in the media.
On that same trip I had the opportunity to see coverage of Ronald Reagan’s death that occurred the next day. When comparing CNN to SkyNews it was incredible. CNN launched into anti-Reagan rehashing of his failures and ‘scandals’ while SkyNews did incredibly respectful and honest coverage of the greatness of Reagan.
Stories like this shaped my disgust and understanding of the radical left. Too few of us have them so I shared mine.
12 years with Netflix and the 25% increase in my monthly bill was more than a sufficient invitation to cancel my subscription.Been using RedBox since at $1.50 a night for Blu Ray since. That will save me $20 a month.
I particularly liked the spam apology from the Netflix CEO yesterday. Like I care why he invited me to leave by ratcheting up my monthly cost? Maybe Netflix would restore some of its reputation by providing an email address for a response. But Netflix stopped caring about the needs of its customers once replaced by big dollar signs. Instead, you can wait on hold to talk to a paid apologist with no power to offer any mitigation, even to customers who put Netflix on the map.
Man, with the standards that we set for candidates, it’s no wonder we get Bushs, Clintons and Obamas. Give good speech, we love you. Fit the stereotypical image of a sexy male leader, we love you. Even if you’ve achieved nothing in life in or out of govt, if you look good and read a teleprompter well, we’ll love you.
Michelle Bachmann is a huge success in life. She has integrity. She’s learned that government cannot be trusted to cut spending no matter the promise, and she’s aware that on issues like energy and jobs, it is government that is in the way of Americans solving their own problems. We don’t need government solutions. We need less government.
I’m 51. I’ve been watching this crap seriously for over 30 years. With that comes some experience that no one gets in college education or reading the NY Times every morning. We need a president who understands, like Reagan, that government is the problem and not the solution.
Perry and Romney are not in that category. And if only to keep jabbing those big government mainstream Republicans, we need Michelle, Sarah, Newt, Ron and Rick to keep pounding issues important to conservatives and libertarians. We can’t afford another Republican president who compromises with left. We need a president who says no, and let the gridlock come if so be it. This nation could use about a decade of government gridlock instead of its Progressive slide to Socialism.
Quoting Nancy Pelosi? She’s as responsible for this current debt and entitlement crisis as anyone. Democrats only have one agenda, and they blame Republicans for everything Progressive Democrats have done to America. What she says in irrelevant. It’s not based on reality. What Harry Reid is irrelevant. It’s not based on reality. What Barrack Obama says is irrelevent. It’s not based on reality.
Dems ignored the first House Budget. They killed Cut, Cap & Balance without debate. They are petrified of the American people seeing what’s in any bill. They don’t want their bills read, and certainly not GOP bills that might actually have overwhelming American support.
Instead, they’ve dumbed down a dependency class that support more giveaways, higher taxes on 1/2 the nation to fund the giveaways, and have turned them into government handout addicts. The Democrat Party is nothing any different that a drug pusher now. Buying loyalty by taking what 1/2 the nation earns and giving it away to the other 1/2.
I think Glenn has done about all the Paul Revere work anyone can expect from any American. He’s taken the arrows from Soros and the left and is still standing. I’m looking forward to great things in the future. Things, perhaps, made possible by Glenn’s freedom from doing a daily TV show. Thank you Glenn.
What economic terrorism has already been executed? Lehman was taken down almost overnight. Lerner isn‘t talking about this like it’s an experiment, but like it’s a strategy that has already been implemented and proven to be successful.
“Mr.Holder…We the people are speaking…YOU BETTER LISTEN and ACT NOW!!!”
That’s funny. Like Holder, Obama and the Democrats have shown any signs of caring what the people think. They don’t. They know they’re fighting a war against Americans and the Constitution. They also know that American’s reluctance to believe in the evil of the Progressive left is their greatest protection.
