  • French Senate Votes to Ban the Burqa

Mary, what are your sources for this rewrite of history? I am a student of history, and your information about the Assyrians and Visigoths doesn’t seem accurate. Nor is it possible that all Americans descended from Manasseh. Is this book published? I would be interested in reading it.

  • California Church Members Show Faith with Tattoos

    In reply to Brandon.

Brandon, I think you make some great points. I think we should be supportive of churches who draw in different segments of the population. For me, I’m a young guy with tattoos and piercings. I’m more comfortable in a setting filled with people who look like me– AND believe the way I do! I would love to take part in a congregation dedicated to spreading God‘s word and God’s love, while not falling prey to antiquated ideas of what makes someone a good Christian. Jesus said he came not to abolish the old law, but to amend it. He also said not to judge one another, lest we be judged. If God has issues with tattoos, we will find out when Christ returns. But, personally, I think God is much more concerned with other, more pressing issues. Why would He care if an alternative church opened its doors to more believers and did things in just a slightly different way? I have scripture on my body, and it has opened so many more doors for witnessing, as people do ask me what the ink means. Let‘s keep our minds and hearts open to new and innovative ways to spread God’s message.

  • Guy, how do you know what he meant? That “tweet” was almost entirely unintelligible. Which, in my opinion, is yet another reason to ignore it. He’s an entertainer, not a political pundit. It would be best for us to ignore his (and other actors’) moronic statements.

  • Helmet, I have to respectfully disagree. Perhaps using language such as “TV Shock” is dramatic, but did you not find the Imam’s words to be disturbing and shocking on their own? Maybe it takes a dramatic headline to draw people into an article, but the Imam’s own words were nothing but a thinly veiled threat. In this kind of situation, it is sites such as The Blaze, and networks such as Fox, that are taking part in rightful critical analysis of the issue– albeit in a typically dramatic fashion, as is common with mass media. The more liberally directed news networks (which do, honestly, make up a decent portion of the mass media system), are downplaying the threats posed by radical Muslims, including the Imam in question. Would you rather have the media act like nothing is wrong, or would you rather have the media stand up and point out the dangers we face as Americans in this particular climate? Personally, I would choose the “right-wing” media, as it tends to point out truths that other media outlets ignore. On that note, do you remember the 8 years when Bush was in office and how the media treated him, as well as how they treated the Iraq war? I certainly remember those years. I hope you were posting responses on liberal sites at that time, accusing the left-leaning media moguls or stoking the flames.

  • Duh. Obviously ;)

  • AP Claim: Beck Borrows ‘Some Lines’ From President Obama

    September 8, 2010 at 2:53pm

    In reply to jayb.

Let’s answer this question how Obama might answer it without a teleprompter: “Uh…no… uh… I don’t believe… uh, he can.”

  • You are absolutely right. I am continually confused as to how people actually view Obama as an honest, humble leader. He is neither honest nor humble, and he certainly isn’t much of a leader. I’d say “charlatan” would be the appropriate term. His plagiarism of that speech is only proof of his arrogant, holier-than-thou approach to leadership.

  • This isn’t entirely about historical context, and you know as well as I do that religion and culture are indelibly tied. Young girls are still being married off to older men, and young boys are still being sold into what is essentially sexual slavery.

  • So much of the media, and many of its avid consumers (liberals), like to attack Palin for anything she says/does/doesn’t do, etc. “Refudiate” isn’t a real word– so what? Personally, I felt a little embarrassed for her, and I was definitely concerned about how much of an attack would ensue (I have some serious sympathy for this woman because the media has done all they can to mutilate her reputation). Let’s just put this in perspective, though. Former president Warren Harding revived the term “normalcy,” which many still consider to be a fake word. “Normalcy” went from being a word no one had ever heard, to a term which has practically replaced its more recognizable counterpart, “normality.“ Maybe ”refudiate” will end up in the dictionary after all!

  • The media loves to jump on the Tea Party Movement for supposed bigotry, and when the accusations are truthful, it’s even more damaging to those of us who support the movement. I applaud Big Sky for their decision to remove him.
