  • Ontheporch, that was my first thought!

  • I suggest you look at the context–it was just before Christmas–he is speaking of Jesus because his celebrated birthday was nigh. Otherwise, I would agree, and notice in all of Herman’s appearances today, religion is not the outstanding issue for him. I think he makes a good argument for Jesus being a conservative, mostly because people like to think of Jesus as being like they are. I have no doubt a liberal could make up an argument where they could show Jesus as a good liberal. I couldn’t help but think the liberal court reference was tongue in cheek; his only support for it was finding him guilty of a bogus crime. I found it somewhat humerous, but wouldn’t take it seriously. The article shows a liberal coming back and painting the court as conservative. Again, everybody wants to analagize their way into the ‘good’ facts being on their side. It’s human nature.
    Lighten up, people!

  • Secessionista, I agree with you. Am replying here because it is the only place it allows me to comment. To a number of other posters here–please do not hijack this horrific event with your own personal issues like abortion or war. There are plenty of forums for those discussions. I did want to add I have a coworker who grew up in Asia–sorry, I know it’s a big place, but not sure where–she said where she was people did not recognize a child as alive until it was 100 days old, because of the high mortality rates. I would comment what sort of society would rather ignore and therefore lose the first three years of their child’s life–all their children–in order to spare themselves some future possible pain and grief?

  • This is a reply to VERYSENIORCITIZEN: Wow what a profound revelation!! The notion that someone who makes a million dollars might have a more comfortable lifestyle than someone making $30,000. Gee did you stay up all night figuring that out? The fact is, if EVERYBODY paid a share, and what’s more fair than all paying the same percentage, then the people that claim to be poor would not constantly be voting to increase taxes on “the other guy”. They would be paying their fair share too, and they would have some self respect.

  • Actually trying to respond to ENCINOM; Perfectlyfrank, I agree. ENCINOM–these people aren‘t responding to ’lost generations’; they’re not part of them are they? What about the lost generations of today being aborted by the thousands??? These kids have been brainwashed. I am white and certainly have been subjected to plenty of racism, yet, I am told black people can’t be racist toward me because I am of a privileged class! Same argument applies here. Republicans can’t point out unfairness by being unfair, it’s only unfair when the republicans do it. Wake up. You are being duped with the rest.

  • I am in a public employee’s union and I do stand against it. Where I work we have three different unions. When the college got in trouble over cuts, they asked us if we would be willing to take a small cut, and they said it would be across the board–including everyone. Many of us rose and said of course. They pay us quite well. They couldn’t get the unions to agree, and had to scrap the idea. What followed was layoffs. I was most ashamed.

  • As a person who does not use guns at all, I would like to thank you all who do. I feel safer knowing you are there.

  • Sorry, I am confused. What does the Tea Party have to do with this article? I am a Tea Partier, but the TEA Party stands for Taxed Enough Already. I am concerned that every opinion a Tea Partier might have may be broadly brushed across all of us. I stand with Christie–he says he knows the man and that Sharia Law will not enter into it. We might as well wait and see. Simply being Muslim shouldn‘t mean you can’t get a job. This response is meant to reply to several of the posts here, but this was the only spot I could find a button. If that means I am dumb, it doesn’t mean all Tea Partiers are dumb too.
