  • This idea that one needs to “test” their relationship is really a misnomer. In this case, ‘test’ means ‘let’s see how much I can get away with.’ A marriage is all about molding a relationship, where both parties change a bit to meet the others’ needs, where you stop living like a bachelor where only your needs matter, and start living like a responsible adult and considering the needs of others. This is the responsibility that comes with marriage. It’s not about seeing whether your current bachelor habits are compatible. I can answer that for you right away – No they’re not. You’ll have to change something. Cohabitation just gives you an easy out when you decide you’re not REALLY interested in growing up.

  • As a rule, I don’t think Abortion in general should be illegal, because there are some legitimate reasons to have one. However I have a MAJOR problem with purely elective abortions. That in my opinion is no better than murder, and worse, it’s for nothing more than your own convenience. Pro-Choice in this case is a misnomer, because the choice was made when you decided to have sex, whether you intended to become pregnant or not. That’s part of the consequence of sex, a consequence of which we are all aware. There is no moral justification for ending an innocent life purely for your convenience.

  • Continued: Contest recent history all you want, but the Revolutionary War was bloody, and every drop spilled by patriotic colonials was in the name of our freedom. And if you think for a second that those Allied soldiers that fell in WWII didn’t die protecting freedom (regardless of who you think ultimately did more to win it), then you’re sorely mistaken. My family has a solid military history, and I’m a proud member of the United States Air Force. I’m not generally called upon to fight, but I have friends and family who are, and for you to sully the sacrifice that has been and is still being made by our men and women in uniform with such vitriol… well you might as well be spitting on the graves of the dead and in the eyes of the living. That might be okay to you, but remember, my family – countless American families – paid in blood for the right you have to spout that kind of nonsense. I humbly recommend you not take it for granted, it doesn’t exist everywhere.

  • Rose-Ellen, You can argue till you’re blue in the face about whatever harm the US does abroad, but no country in the world has spilled more of its own blood for foreign nations than the United States of America. Furthermore, while the possibility exists that the Russians COULD have won the war on their own, they contributed neither air nor sea power to the fight. The fight in the air in particular was crucial to Russia’s fight on the Eastern Front, as it deprived the Nazis of their line of supplies and fuel. Russia would have been much worse off and spent years, perhaps even decades longer fighting if not for the intervention of the USA. If you’d like to contend that it was a joint effort, that’s acceptable if contestable, but to call the Soviets the principle force in the defeat of Nazi Germany, I think, is a bit rich.

  • Does This Design of Two Towers Remind You of Anything?

I don’t know if my additional comment went through, so I’ll say it again. In addition to my first comment, I find it INCREDIBLY disconcerting that some of us feel a simple disagreement warrants accusation of being a liberal or troll. I‘m willing to bet most throwing those comments around know little to nothing about those they’re targeting outside of this forum. In regard to this story, believing the design was an accident (and Aiden Macanbhaird makes a VERY strong case for just that) doesn’t automatically spell LIBERAL. Comments like that just provide more evidence for the vitriol the left already throws at us. We’re above that, let’s try to act like it.

You know, I think it IS a beautiful design… except if you read the bottom paragraph you see that the master mind behind the ground zero designs was involved, and someone else FROM THE COMPANY WHO DESIGNED IT admitted that they thought about 9/11. I‘m not one to see things that aren’t there, but those two facts along with the design make me at best skeptical that they didn’t know what it would look like, and at worst flabbergasted that an ally of ours would allow such an obvious slap in the face.

  • While it’s true that many traditions commonly associated with the current Christmas Season developed outside of the Christian Faith, a feast honoring the birth of Christ was held on or around December 25th as early as 354 AD in Rome. This was presumably because this was the day the sun reversed its southward retreat and proved itself to be “unconquered,” which drew comparisons to Christ.

  • I agree with this except that there have to be measures that make exceptions for those times when Mom‘s life is on the line and Baby can’t survive without Mom. We have to be able to make the decision to save mom if both lives are on the line and Baby isn’t viable outside the womb. That there are no exemptions for rape is acceptable to me as (while I‘ve never been raped and can’t speak to how quickly this is done) it seems to me 4-6 weeks is more than enough time for a woman to make a reasonable decision on whether or not she wants to keep the baby.

  • It ain’t the milk. I got chocolate milk in basic military training and lost 22 pounds. If these kids were doing calisthenics every other day, they wouldn’t be fat. The key is exercise, which is something that has to be taken care of (gasp) in the HOME!!!
