John McCain Gets Testy With Gay Media Reporters While Defending DADT
September 22, 2010 at 5:09pm
I think many people are missing the argument about homosexuals serving openly in the military. Does anyone understand the amount of money it will cost to accomidate this situation? For single military members in the lower pay grades many still live in rooms that accomidate 2-4 personnel. They are not much different than some of the older college dorm rooms found on universities all over the country. In those rooms are 2-4 bunkbed type bed’s. Many of those rooms share a bathroom with the room next door, and in some case’s have 1-2 community restrooms per floor in the barracks. How would people feel about their daughter’s living in the same 1 room barracks room, sharing a restroom and shower with a young male soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine? Can you imagine the distraction to the mission based on the human condition of attraction to the opposite sex in this scenario? Military units require good order and discipline to maintain the fighting edge necessary to wage and win American wars. Threaten the good order and discipline and this social experiment destroys our ability to fight.
Now someone tell me what the difference is between putting someone of the opposite sex into this situation and putting someone that is openly attracted to the same sex in this situation? It may sound like bigotry to some, but think about it. If I’m ordered to live in a room with a female, that is not my wife or girlfriend, what is my level of comfort about showering, dressing, or just lounging around watching tv during my off duty time laying in my bed? There is no difference between this, and me rooming with another male that is openly homosexual. What if that young man is attracted to me and I know that he is? How comfortable is that in my space? So to accomidate another community, the military will have to completely overhaul our housing situation on base. Build double the amount of barracks, because now everyone will have to have their own room…what about basic training/boot camp? There recruits live in open squad bays, and showers are walk through events with everyone in line….does that have to change too? Try hundreds of billions of dollars, at a time when we just don’t have it because everyone already complains that the “military complex” cost’s too much. We can’t get the weapons systems to take us into the next century of combat, but we can spend a gozillion dollars to use the military to advance social programs? Now you’re just screwing with my quality of life, because you’re screwing with my survival.
There aren‘t many military service members under the dislusion that homosexuals don’t exist in the military…we all know they are there with us. But by making it such a production piece in making your sexuality such a front page article, or better yet social experiment, it’s not helping their cause. Not many of us really care what people do in the privacy of their own homes, hell that’s why most of us joined the military to maintain those rights, but we really don’t need to pointed at so people can say “hey look it worked in the military.”
Our mission is to locate, close with, and destroy the enemy‘s of the United States of America and this republic’s Constitution….period. Please allow us to do our jobs and stop using us a a stepping stone to advance your cause. We happily serve everyday with all races, creeds, and colors….and sexual preferences. We don’t care what people do in their bedrooms, and we’re not allowed to march in your political parades in uniform, so you’re not going to get your video and soundbyte of us speaking out for you anyway.
Colin Powell Decries ‘Nonsense’ Attacks on Obama
September 20, 2010 at 6:59pm
Is this the same Colin Powell that went to the UN with intellegence photos declaring Iraq’s “weapons of mass destruction” capability? Then when they weren’t found resigned his position leaving the President holding the bag ensinuating that he spent a whole 2 and a half hours trying to talk him out of the war? Also the same Colin Powell that was the CJCS and a soldier with 35 years of experience that had probably seen one or two pieces of satillite imagery before and maybe had one or two intellegence briefings where things didn’t really smell right?
I’m sorry but I lost a little respect for him when he stepped out on President Bush and opened his mouth about the war. A good general doesn‘t go to the UN and brief the position for going to war if he doesn’t think the war is legit. He resigns in protest before the war occurs.
Just so you don’t get the wrong impression….I served three tours in Iraq, think it was a just cause, and I’d do it again.
Muslim Activist Calls for ‘Burn the Stars and Stripes Day’
September 9, 2010 at 4:36pm
If we can’t change them then what are we doing there? I too am an active duty military member, with more than enough Middle Eastern trips…..but I thought the whole purpose of our being there was to bring them a kind of life/freedom they had never known before, ultimately making them more friendly to America and the civilized world. Allow them to govern by the people, without fear of a handful of religious zealots controlling their whole world while they reap the profits of the people’s labor.
I don’t condone or agree with what this pastor is doing, but at the same time I refuse to stand in his way. Just like I refuse to stand in the way of someone burning the flag, even when I find it reprehensible. If I do….what the hell did I spend the last 19 years of my life claiming to be willing to die for? Take away the 1st Amendment and you won’t be allowed to speak out when they take way the rest of them.
What are the jihadi’s going to do plant one more bomb in the side of the road a day? They certainly aren’t going to assemble a battalion online and mount a combined arms attack. It sucks that American’s and our allies die in war. But war is horrible for a reason….if it wasn‘t we’d do it more often.
Muslim Activist Calls for ‘Burn the Stars and Stripes Day’
September 9, 2010 at 12:51pm
What would happen if let’s say about a third of all Christians in the world said “it’s the duty of all Christians to eradicate the world of these non-believing Muslims?” If the shoe were on the other foot? What if everytime a Christian was beaten, discriminated against, wronged in any way by a individual or small group of Muslims in any Muslim country the Christians of the world protested in the streets of America in front of every Muslim neighborhood, mosque, etc?
It doesn’t matter if this Rev. burns a bunch of books…if not this instance, there will be another reason to protest the West, or kill American’s. “Because of our policies in the middle east”…..I’m still wondering what those policies are. Was it helping the Muj with their plight in throwing the Soviet Union out of Afghanistan? Kicking Saddam’s army out of Kuwait, and keeping him from invading Saudi Arabia? Stopping the genocide of the Bosnia Muslims in Yugoslavia? Or was it just buying as much of their oil as they can dig up, and spending billions on keeping those shipping lanes open for them to sell oil to everyone in the world making them filthy rich? It seems we give a lot….what the heck do we get in return? Ridicule and attacked?
To hell with the rest of the world….lets isolate and see how the rest of the world fairs on it’s own for a while. Don’t like the way we do business….ok then you take care of it. What happens to “developing nations” when American citizens tire of your products? Does a nuclear Iran really affect America all that much? No you idiots (the rest of the world) we’re doing this for you!!!
Palin Power: Non-Word ‘Refudiate’ Gets Most Online Searches
September 8, 2010 at 4:05pm
What I really find funny is how someone feel’s it necessary to nit pick the words of a possible political competitor that occasionally get thrown out there in a press conference, or these day’s on a “tweet” (without a teleprompter I might add, or hand selected questions by the staff of whom is being questioned)…..remember “strategery?” (Which incidentally I thought was a cool word!) Really, is that all you have?
Also, aren’t the people focusing on bringing these heinous crimes against humanity the same people telling me that Ebonics is now an acceptable use of the American form of the English language? Social justice right? Don’t teach people to do it the right way, but make sure to point out when your competitor makes a error in grammar. *sarcasm on* I blame the teachers unions for holding teachers accountable for not teaching Gov. Palin that it wasn’t a word. *sarcasm off* There always has to be someone to blame in America right?
Chinese Government Orders Mandatory Blackouts
September 8, 2010 at 3:22pm
I guess my biggest question about this article, and maybe I’m not as well read as I should be, is why is China given “developing nation” status by the UN? Is it not one of the oldest societies in the world? Did it not at one time have one of the most advanced and thriving societies in the world?
America’s been around what, 235 years (as a soverign nation)? Yet we need to do more to curb our energy consumption, and are given no free rides from the international community? Aren’t we actually one of the youngest nations on the face of the planet?
Could it be that imperialism and socialism/communism stiffle ingenuity? And isn‘t it ingenuity and the desire to better your and your family’s lifestyle that drive a free market to be successful, inadvertantly helping all of those living in that society? We didn’t put a man on the moon because the government told us to. We did it because free thinker’s looked up and thought it would cool to get a closer look.
Hawking Says God Not Needed for Creation
September 2, 2010 at 6:06pm
I watched this documentary done by Ben Stein several months ago, as I’m sure many others did, about this topic. I was taken aback by world renowned scientists in that video that would rather believe that life on earth was created by “primordial ooze being hit by a massive amount of energy” or “seeded by some alien being” than by intelligent design, much less one God. That’s where my tax dollars go in the form of research grants? Primordial ooze? Really?
90-Year-Old WWII Vet Recounts Remarkable Musical Moment
September 2, 2010 at 5:41pm
Check out the Palm Springs Air Museum. They keep a library upstairs, and when war Vet’s come in they sometimes ask them to do interviews of their stories. Not only WWII Vet’s, but they even have testimonials of current combat Vet’s. I‘m not sure if they sell CD’s of these stories, but I know you can sit there and watch them.
