  • This isn’t all that surprizing really. The shock that‘s being pushed on us about this story is nothing compared to the shock that we’ve seen from all corners of the media about what goes on with embrionic stem cell research…or how shocked the media gets when there are stories about babies being left to die in broom closets….

Wait, they don’t really cover that do they….

It’s all a progression. When you get rid of the idea of a creator, you eventually have to get rid of morals too because, really, what’s the point of morals if there is no one to be accountable to, and if there is no one to be accountable to….

  • No no, what TheGreatCarnac is saying is, hispanics are not chosen…they have to sneak in. see. ;D

  • From a purely biological perspective, it is not unheard of for girls to experience their first menses by the age of ten; however, due to physical immaturity, pregnancies at such an age can be extremely dangerous for the girl and the baby. As I understand it, this holds true for girls up to 13 and 14.

That isn’t even accounting for psychological maturity. Girls of such a young age are not even close to being prepared psychologically for the trials and difficulties associated with pregnancy and raising a child.

Unfortunately, some cultures do not realize these issues and simply follow their traditions, twisted as they may be from our perspective.

  • It intrigues me that many (if not most) supposed “eco-friendly” products tend to have unintended consequences that backfire on those who thought it was such a good idea at first.

Take a gander at BioDiesel. BioDiesel can come from soy or corn oil, but a major source is palm oil…which comes from the oil palm tree…which is grown in tropical climates…

National Geographic ran an article a few years ago which showed satellite images of the island nation of Borneo from ten years prior, then more recent satellite images. In the more recent images, it was obvious how much of the rain forest had been denuded in favor of oil palm plantations. It’s ironic how the same folks who raise an outcry of “save the rainforests!” have actually helped destroy those forests by pushing biodiesel.

Oddly enough, Nat-Geo did not point out that particular angle.

    In reply to biggreenboo.

If you really think about it, if the government is going to give people money for food, it shouldn’t be junk food. I’ve read statistics that show that obesity is rampant amongst the poorest Americans. The main reason for this is their reliance on junk food. If the government is going to force me to pay taxes so someone else can eat, I don‘t want them wasting it on something that isn’t healthy. If they’re going to take my money, I want it used responsibly, not wasted.

Now, if the government tries to tell me what I should eat with money I earned for myself, that’s an entirely different kettle of fish. My money, earned by me, is mine to spend (or waste) on whatever I dang well please.

  • That’s hilarious… Very Donald Duck…Not that that’s not obvious or anything.

  • I watched the video, and honestly, it was the reporter who came off as being more pushy than Mr. Holdren. I don’t agree with Mr. Holdren, in fact I think his ideas are extremely dangerous and damaging to our country, but in this case, I think he handled himself as a gentleman.

Had it been me getting heckled by a reporter, I would have probably slugged the guy…I really dislike reporters. Most of them are jerks, this one included.

  • I appreciate your honesty.

The irony got me as well, and I think Segways are neat little buggies, but still, the irony is there, and while death is always unfortunate and my heart goes out to the family and friends of the deceased, you’d have to be completely brainless not to get the irony and have a guilty chuckle or two.

    We’re only human.
