  I think this is a great idea. The legalistic Christians out there will wail and gnash their teeth, but whatever. God is above all of them, and can use versions like this, or the Message, to draw people closer to Him. I feel that God can speak through all the versions out there.

  I agree with some of the above posters who are calling for the media to stop showing pictures of this kid from when he was 11-12 years old. Some searching on the internet revels that he was the typical street punk, and his facebook page had him doing the typical “gangsta” pose. The media is trying to create the bias that this kid was pure and clean as the wind driven snow, which is starting to come out that he wasn’t.

  I found a great little local coffee shop to replace Starbucks. The money stays in town, and they are closed on Sundays (borrowed the practice from Chick-Fil-A). Works for me.

  Wait a minute, there were CHECKPOINTS on campus? They were actually asking people if they were Jewish before deciding if they could proceed?

  WHAT THE #@!% IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE???

  If I was at a school, and a bunch of students set up a checkpoint and would not let me proceed to my class until I identified if I was Jewish, I would have plowed right on through.

  A few years ago I took my family to the zoo here in town. It was during a weekday, and I had the day off from work. Since we homeschool our little ones, we can happily adjust the schedule when I’m off work.

  Outside the main gate there was a couple of people there gathering signatures for something. One of them saw my three kids, and with excitement asked for me to sign their petition.

  “For what?” I asked.

  “So we can get more money for our local schools!” She beamed.

  I handed the clipboard back to her without signing and told her, ‘you guys already have enough money”.

  She was shocked that I turned it down, and retorted, “but what about your kids?”

  I informed her that the local school districts were so horrible that we homeschool our kids.

  In a huff she walked away.

  It bothers me that a portion of my property taxes goes to the schools, and even 35% of my motor vehicle registration fees!
