  • Connecticut? Sharia law? Hopefully we’ll not need Peacemakers to intervene here; after all, it could be said that Connecticut could be more closely associated with “the law of the West” since as I recall, Connecticut is the birthplace of a guy named Sam Colt.

  • We would do well to remember that many of the growing mass of Ron Paul supporters are in fact “deep-cover” Democrats recognizing the mayhem that they can wreak on Republicans and the Republican convention from within the Paul campaign. The fact that their tactics are becoming eerily reminiscent of the Occupy folks and typical liberals is not a coincidence.

  • This really shouldn’t have been a surprise to the OWS. Faces in the crowd… what might be a surprise is the number of folks there and the agencies/organizations they were from.

  • If people don’t get it now, then there is no hope. Romney is the Conservative’s Obama; worthless politician groomed for prime time.

  • Don brought a smile to our faces each morning and joy into the hearts of many in the community through his many charitable activities. He will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace, my friend. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends.

  • This is a DUH! story. I knew about this three years ago. I just researched it again and if you Google Bernanke 7.4 Trillion Nov 24 2008 you’ll get stories about what the Fed was doing. Also, here’s the Bloomberg story (now updated for 7.7 Trillion) from that date:

  • Jeremy Clarkson along with his cohorts Richard Hammond and James May are what make the original (not the poor US copy) of Top Gear. Anyone who’s ever seen that show should understand that this is Mr. Clarkson’s sense of humor; tinged with just enough truth to insure you know on which side of an issue he stands. In other words, there isn’t a politically correct bone in his body… thank goodness!

  • Well now, here’s an opportunity where we can be accommodating. Y‘all hook ’em up and I‘ll drag ’em away with my 4X4.

  • I don‘t know the facts on THIS incident so I’ll reserve judgement. I will say however, that the Pakistani border bases are known for observing and reporting our troop movements to the Taliban. That results in our troops, your sons and daughters, being killed or maimed. Believe it or not, as a commander in the field, enough of that will tend to dampen your day to the point where, after multiple warnings, one might resort to taking retaliatory action. So all may not be what it seems. Time may tell.

  • In (under) the Straits themselves isn’t great for a number of reasons. But the Gulf of Oman (deep drop off) is probably a traffic jam of subs, both diesel and nuclear from the U.S., Russia, China and Israel at a minimum.

On the subject of Iran’s subs. Go to maps at google and put in Iran (satellite view). Then look at the port southwest of Bandar E Abbas. Yes, the one that as you zoom in looks as it is giving you the finger. Go to the east (right or folded fingers side) of the port to the eastern most docks to see a couple of Iran’s diesel subs, and on the north end of the pier, one of its diesel mini-subs. Those are great for “hide and seek” strikes among the islands just inside the Straits.

While on that map, zoom out halfway or so and go to an island halfway across (down) the gulf known as Abu Musa. Zoom in on the eastern side of the island (right side). Look around. Those bunkers aren’t for storing potatoes! There are plenty other interesting places to look at on that map, but too many to go into here.
