  • “We’ve been discussing this as though every child has the benefit of two loving parents who are ready to have a conversation,” he said. “That is not the case. There are kids in our community that do not have that luxury.”

Luxury? LUXURY?!!! What kind of idiot thinks two loving parents are a luxury?!!

I feel insulted and demeaned that any politician would reduce the need for two parents to a luxury, and it‘s that kind of thinking that’s brought a curse on American families and children.

Lessons on sexuality belong to the family, whether or not the child comes from the ideal household. More Americans need get their heads out of their 4$$e$$ when it comes to children’s education. Glad it’s starting somewhere. I hope it’s not too late.

  • Ok. From some of the above comments, I think it’s time for some wisdom my military parents gave me: “Don‘t go places you don’t want to be seen, don‘t say things you don’t want to be heard, don‘t leave tracks when you don’t want to be followed, and keep your secrets to yourself”. They also taught me never to accept gifts from strangers and think before I act or speak.

Like it or not, the internet is a public place where the law will hurt you more often than it will help you. You are responsible for your own privacy: not Google, not Facebook, and certainly not the government. None of the above can be trusted with private information. Anyone who thinks otherwise almost deserves the punishment that comes from such stupidity. Think before dragging out your wallet to make electronic payment (is it safe?, can this business be trusted?), think before doing an online search (do I want to be seen doing this?, can I quickly erase my tracks?), definitly think before updating you Facebook account (do I want my boss or the stranger down the street to know this about me?)

Privacy settings are wonderful, but only when they work and no one repeats or uses what they’ve learned about you.

  • I said “socialized schools”, and I meant it. Public education and socialized education are one and the same. While some public schools are more conservative and parent cooperative than others, they are all paid for by the state dollar and subject to the state’s regulations, agendas, and gross neglect.

  • I am reminded of the “witch hunts” back in the early nineties where teachers were being accused and investigated for sex abuse left right and center. I don’t know if this batch is guilty or not; however it does look sensational.

That said I wouldn’t leave my children unsupervised with strangers; and yes, school teachers count as strangers in my book. One of the most dangerous things a parent can do to their child to put to put them in the care of strangers 8+ hours a day. You wouldn‘t let someone you didn’t know or trust drive your car, so why let that person teach your kids. I’m sorry. The magic bachelors’ degree in childhood education and “priestley” state teachers’ certification does not qualify someone as safe to be with children.

This is just another condemning example (among a myriad of others) as to why socialized schools are bad for children. It’s another one of my reasons why I home school.

  • It should have been the year of the Bible every year from the beginning. Maybe some civility and education would have been preserved in the American mind.

As for the Atheists who are so offended, remember you are still a minority and under the protection and tolerance of a very large majority. No one is obligated to move Heaven and Earth (if you’ll pardon the expression) to make you comfortable and happy. No one is obligated to right every perceived wrong you’ve suffered. For your own part, you have the right to make your own schools, vote in line with your own reasoning, and worship (or not) according to your own conscience. Welcome to the free world.

  • I don’t buy anything with the pink ribbon, especially if I see the Komen logo. I have no reason to believe this arrangement is anything but temporary. What‘s more I don’t trust any fundraising organization that claims to be “for the cure”. Finding the cure puts them out of work.

  • Don’t be so simplistic. When the image of a god is desecrated, it’s not usually just simple vandalism. It’s a message. Try and find out who did it and what he was trying to say. Meanwhile, err on the side of caution and assume it is a threat until proven otherwise.

  • Oops… not “irradiate”… I meant “eradicate”. Sometimes I just can‘t spell and the spell check doesn’t catch everything I do wrong.

  • This article and the subsequent comments are confirming a theory of mine… that there are probably as many different denominations of atheism as there are of Christianity and that Atheism really is a religion.

    What I’ve observed:

Atheism is not a “non-belief”. Atheists are characterized as having an affirmative belief that there is no god.

Some atheists (most I believe) prefer to remain private and polite about their beliefs, at most engaging in friendly debate when the subject of religion comes up. They understand the right to worship as outlined in the Constitution and do not insist on extreme measures when it comes to the separation of church and state doctrine. “Live and let live” seems to be the common approach to other religions.

Then there are the few extremists who are offended at the very presence of those that believe in a higher power and do all in their power to irradiate any and every public mention or display of all other types of religion, anything from legislation, to protests, to acts of violence and vandalism. They try to portray themselves as the true representatives of the “faith”, but in fact they are a small and irritating minority, even to those of the same belief.

There are a lot of variations of belief when it comes to Atheism, a lot like many other belief systems.

  • Obama is a lying snake and needs to be removed. Obviously Mr. Gingrich has a fighting chance against Mr. Obama, but not because he’s the better man. Mr. Gingrich only has a chance because he too is an unworthy snake. You ought to know that when you send a snake to kill a snake, in the end you still have a snake. I have no reason to believe we’d be better off with Mr. Gingrich in office.
