To Aplingjaytonia: Give NoScript (a Firefox add-in) a try. It lets you fine tune what ‘stuff” gets allowed on any website. Caution in that you have to set ‘permissions’ at each site you visit, which can be a P.I.T.A. if you surf extensively.
