Agreed, Newlife. This story sure did bring out a lot of haters, though. Don’t worry, haters, Jesus loves you, too. He won‘t make you spend eternity where you don’t want to be.

I lived in Dubuque a few years back. Oddly, that bar at University and Asbury Rd was the first one to pop into my mind when I heard about this story. It is a great place to live, though. We miss it.

Obama Gives Speech in Front of Couple’s Home — But the Wife Still Isn‘t Sure She’ll Vote for Him

After reflecting on this for a few minutes, I guess Mr. Keller does have an excuse. He said he voted for Obama and will do it again. Embracing personal responsibility over “wealth redistribution” isn’t his strong suit.

Why is anyone except the homeowner responsible for repaying their loan? I don’t care how much their home is worth. They determined it was worth more than $168,000 to them when they bought it. They didn’t have enough savings to buy it with cash. They entered a contract with a lending company that did have the money. They agreed to pay the money back with interest. What am I missing here? Why is that the lenders fault or the government’s (taxpayer’s) fault? Am I responsible for them not knowing it was a bubble, when most people knew it was? If they do get their loan written down and the market comes back and their home is valued at over $168,00 again, are they responsible for increasing the loan amount? It would only be fair. If it works one way, it must work the both ways.
