  • Having a firm knowledge that what you believe is true is not pride nor is it a sin. In fact, God tells us to be firm in our faith and to stand as a witness to all the world. And how can you be an effective witness unless you have a certainty in what you believe?

Pride that is sinful is when we are allowed to be blinded by our own works that we elevate ourselves above God (as in the Humanist movement). It is also sinful to use our works and gifts to try and make ourselves out to be better than someone else (i.e. I am a better person because I am rich, or a better speaker, or a better hamburger flipper, or whatever and you are not).

But, it is not sinful to be proud of who you are, what you believe, or for you or other’s accomplishments.

  • While not surprising, it is disturbing.

  • I fear the only way to fix this problem is to reformat the country and reinstall the Constitution and it’s Service Packs.

We have so many viruses, trojans, bloatware and spyware that it would be almost impossible to find and correct all of them without a fresh install.

  • “Trust, but verify.”

We are just trying to verify the part of Obama’s constitutional eligibility to be President. Why is it bad to make sure that the person leading the country meets the constitutional requirements to do so? And why would Barry spend so much money to hide it, especially since he is currently running the most transparent administration since… well, forever (according to the media).

But, I can also understand why Glenn says to drop it. He feels that since Obama is already elected and has sat on the throne for three years, that it is not the most important thing we should be focusing on. He also feels that it distracts from other enemies and issues that pose a more immediate threat. I can empathize with that thinking, but I also agree with JJCoolLay that we can focus on more than one thing, and just because we want to verify the legitimacy of Obama’s eligibility does not mean we are not watching the other hand, or paying attention to other issues. The two are not mutually exclusive.

I think the birth certificate/natural-born citizen issue is important because it is a constitutional issue. And if we let it slide here, then where do we draw the line in the future? And what kind of precedent does it set? If we find out that he is not a natural-born citizen does that set the precedent that others who are not natural-born can now run because we did not stop it in this case and just let it slide because it wasn’t that important? How could the courts twist this to allow other things that are unconstitutional? Does this show that the constitution is becoming irrelevant (as Obama has said it is)? Since I do not have a crystal ball I cannot answer these questions, but rather offer them as rhetorical.

But, regardless of Obama’s natural-born status, I revert back to my original quote… “Trust, but verify”. We still need to verify on the grounds that it is a constitutional issue.

  • I was going to write a long scathing rebuke concerning President Obama and how entitlements have ruined this country, but I got so upset at how incredibly out of touch Obama is with the American people and economics that I gave up.

So, this is what you get, a post devoid of any substance… just like our President.

  • I would like to see any of the following in Beck’s time slot:

    1) Red Eye
    2) Judge Napalotano
    3) If Charles Krauthammer does a show… I would watch it.

  • Did you see Stossel’s piece on Freeloaders? Not only was it entertaining, but it was very informative.

  • GONZO asked, “How about the trinty? Father, Son and Holy Spirit all equal parts of God?”

Mormons believe that Father, Son and the Holy Ghost (Spirit) are three separate individuals that are one in purpose (the salvation of mankind).

Just as a follow -up as to why this is their belief…

    Separate:
    1) During the baptism of Jesus, the voice of the Father is heard and the Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove. (showing all three at the same time as separate)
    2) Jesus continually refers to his Father in Heaven as a separate being and even prays to him.
    3) Jesus continually declares that he came to do the will of the Father (not his own)
    4) Jesus told his deciples to be one, even as he and the Father were one (shows they were one in purpose not necessarily one being).
    5) When Stephen was being stoned he looked up and saw Jesus standing on the right hand of God (showing that they were separate).

And there are other scriptures to support this idea depending on your interpretation. This is not to try and convince you that this is correct, but rather to help you understand why Mormons believe as they do, because just as there are scripture to support the idea that God, Son and Holy Spirit are only one being that is split into three roles, there are also scripture to support the idea that they are three separate individuals. In the end it all comes down to your learning, understanding, perspective, and tradition of belief.

    Hope that helps some.

  • AND TO THE REPUBLIC said,
“that dude is lucky he didnt grab hold of the beer belly….”

    ———————————

“that dude is lucky he didnt grab hold of his beer….”

    Fixed that for you…

    Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

  • Didn’t Myth Busters (I know, not always perfectly accurate) do a test with a surfboard going through a car windshield and found that it was busted? I would say that this probably fits into that category.

Also, the windshield didn’t look like it shattered correctly when the lumber hit it.

Finally, I could be wrong and this could be a real accident…

So, if it was a hoax, it was a good one. If it was not, then I am glad no one was hurt.
