  • What Is the ‘Urban Chicken Retirement’ Phenomenon?

    April 27, 2012 at 2:36am

    In reply to 9111315.

Freezer camp!!! That’s a riot!!! Thanks for a good laugh. And yes, our “pet” chickens will at some point in the future be signed up to attend freezer camp as well. People. People. They are chickens! Ours have names and personalities and duties (providing eggs to pay for their living expenses). But when they are beyond their abilities to pay their rent they must provide some chicken soup. They are farm animals, not dogs and cats. And no, I am not heartless. I am in fact a big time animal lover. But I also employ common sense.

  • Kudos to this guy for imagination and creativity which are precious commodities in short supply these days it seems. Our education system just seems to crush the life out of any hint of either of these qualities. The world needs more of this. Every single idea does not have to be a fantastic winner (think Edison) but the creative flow can lead us to wonderful new discoveries. Let’s not stifle such potential!!

  • I think they should have done this stunt using a Volt. Then the President could have taken credit for it. You know….like he does with drilling oil, job creation, etc.

  • Three year olds have very little concept of danger. That is why they stray into busy streets, step in front of cars, hang over railings, think they really CAN fly, etc. Our responsibilities as parents and grandparents are to protect them and train them. It is the same in the animal kingdom. Watch the herds of animals out on the plains and where are the babies? Either inside the circle of adults or close by the mothers’ bodies. If the young stray, they become lunch to predators. They have to learn what danger is. If they don’t, they do not live long enough to mature and quickly become lunch to a larger stronger animal.

  • Agreed!

  • You mean you are supposed to get into that thing through the submarine hatch on the back?? Nah ah. Are you kidding me???What are the gals wearing skirts and high heels supposed to do to accomplish that? I’m sure the guys would enjoy watching the attempt but…….no sir……ain’t happening guys! Just plain ain’t happening. It is cool looking though in a weird futuristic kinda way.

  • Is anyone else as confused as I am? The article says:
“daughter Melinda Star Guido who was born 22 weeks pre-mature” then it also says:
“Melinda was delivered by cesarean section at 24 weeks”
So which is it? Was she 24 weeks gestation or born 22 weeks early? At 22 weeks early she would have arrived at 18 weeks gestation. Who is checking these articles anyway?
Lastly, glad for this little miracle child. I do hope she has a good life without the myriad of complications that can result from showing up too soon before full development has taken place in the womb.

  • @Encinom: As regards under garments worn by the Mormons—–sacred?, yes…magical?, no. I suppose you also use that same logic to refer to preachers’ clerical collars as magic neck bands or muslim overcoats as magic robes. How about the rosary? Fairy beads perhaps? NO? If not then I can only deduce that you are just bigoted against Mormons. Their school in Idaho has an honor code to prevent young people from looking like whores or drug dealers in their apparel. By dressing conservatively the person’s attitude tends to follow suit thus a general sense of respect is maintained. Your comment reflected anything BUT respect.

  • This article is horrific. I can only hope that it is an internet hoax, for the reality makes my skin crawl and my stomach lurch. Sodom and Gommorah had NOTHING on our times it seems.

  • As regards B12, I have been told by the pharmacist that the drug company will no longer be manufacturing this product and I don’t know where I will be able to get it in the future. Not sure exactly what is going on with this.
