  • Oh so true Deeberj.
We have over sexualized everything. I have spent time in other countries where women are “forced” to do what God intended–yeah the breasts are intended for feeding offspring! They carry around their babies and young toddlers in slings and feed them while they market, work the fields etc… Oh but we have evolved and now it’s more convenient to breast feed for one month and then break out the formula so we can return to work and carry on with our lives in our post-modern worked. Maybe we pump for a few months so the nanny and sitters can give them breast milk for a few more months…..sadly we have whittled down motherhood to the nine+ months of pregnancy and then it’s life in the fast lane as usual. And for naysayers…the libs and conservative women are both doing this… the mama’s living on the government tit are the first to use their WIC for formula. And yes–the cover is salacious and does motherhood and breast feeding no favors. Sad times in so many ways!!

  • Breast feeding a child is not in the least bit sexual. And how long or when and where is just a personal choice. For heaven’s sake, it‘s what a women’s breasts where created for…what a wonderful design of the creator–made trashy by too much sexualization of a sad and weak society and not done any favors by the poorly chosen photography on the cover of Time.

  • Thanks for your post!! I too am very conservative and was always “going against the grain” in my relaxed motherhood years. My oldest is in grad school and my youngest is disabled. They both thrived with attachment parenting for very different reasons!! Back in the day I was a huge fan of Dr. Sears and was thankful for his common sense approaches as I was attachment parenting in a time when church friends were trying to shove Gary Ezzo philosophies down my throat. I breast fed both of my children for two years and they weaned themselves. The second year it was mostly a nighttime thing and I wouldn’t give up those bonding moments for all the money in the world. I look at new mom’s today and hope for them the ability to whatever works best for their families and not be under scrutiny of the “naysayers and know-besters”… I do think the cover photo here on Time is obviously trying to bring “shock and awe” and that just cheapens and weakens a powerful message on the benefits of attachment parenting.

  • I have no problem with co-sleeping, breast feeding a toddler and attachment parenting. To do all of those things you have to be a quality and quantity parent and that does seem to be lacking in today’s “let the state raise the kiddies” mentality. I loved Dr.Sears and his books were so helpful when I was a new mom waaay back in the 80‘s and 90’s. He was not as popular amongst most of my church friends who were following another parenting trend led by Gary Ezzo (ugh). How one chooses to “parent” is really how and whatever works best for their families. The only objection I have to the “Time” cover is that it is being done to be controversial and voyeuristic. Shame on them for that!

  • Who writes a memoir digging up old girlfriends and conquests under the guise of angst and self-evolving?? I expect this kind of tabloid pulp from the likes of Mick Jagger and Madonna. But this is the leader of the free world we are talking about; coming out with another “memoir” of his unrestrained youth just makes him look shallow, immature and narcissistic…oh wait, he is!

  • 2 Timothy 3: 1-5
1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

  • “When I see this in the store, I’ll throw some items on the floor and step on them. This is war!”

Just envisioning that made me LOL!! Thanks ;)

  • So let’s see…if they are to offend all equally, where is the Koran on a t-shirt in flames (or just a Koran on a t-shirt without anything happening to it), or a Tipitaka…Bhagavad Gita???

Hypocrisy at its finest– a company that boasts itself to be anti anything American, yet in reality it is one of the 1% of those “greedy, rich, capitalist” companies that spews rhetoric while being the very thing it supposedly is in opposition to.

  • This young man is nothing more than a creepy stalker in “self righteous” clothing.

  • As a blonde I hate to say this but—“Dumb Blonde” really, really dumb blonde!
