  • photo #20: kinda hypocritical to protest capitalism when you’re using an “under armour” backpack. idiot. And the previous photo that said something about “no barking, no tricks”–so now they are getting their dogs in on the act? that’s priceless (and yes i know it doesnt really pertain to dogs)

  • Where is the Secret Service on this? If they will question Uncle Ted for a METAPHOR, then they d@** well better be finding out who these people are and question their DIRECT THREATS towards Zimmerman. Yeah right, like that’ll happen….

  • So, Miss Melanie Rousell, why is the battle cry “chop their heads off” so offensive to you when you didn’t say ONE WORD about Roseanne Barr saying that guillotines should be brought back and used on certain people? “My hypocrisy knows no bounds” (5 bonus points if you can ID that quote). You leftists are the most hypocritical people in the world and you don’t even know it…so sad…there are so many other important issues than jumpin all over Uncle Ted for speaking his mind

  • to “science is not evil”: yes i know they require a scrip. I used them once, i am well aware of that. They can still go to the doctor and get the doctor’s visit paid through insurance. Or they can go to PP who, i believe, still has a sliding scale so you pay based on your income. Other women’s clinics also offer reduced rates for disadvantaged women. Your argument holds no water.

  • Since when do contraceptives cost “hundreds of dollars” per year? I used it years and years ago, with no financial help from anyone else, and it did NOT cost that much, even at a regular pharmacy. Now, these people can go to PP and get it free or at reduced cost. What are they whining about?!! A pharmacy tech i know said you can get it at wal-mart for about 10$ for a 3mth supply. For crying out loud people, pay for it yourself and stop whining that you can’t get something for free! Haven’t you ever heard the saying, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch!” ? I do not want to pay for your stuff. After all, no one pays for my medication that i am REQUIRED to take, but i don’t ask anyone to do that either. And this has nothing to do with discrimination against women, it is a Catholic University following the teachings of the Catholic Church that it answers to. If you don’t like, go teach somewhere else that will give you what you want. i am so sick of all these people wanting something for free. You know what, you want something, you pay for it. If you have to get a second job to do it, so be it. Wouldn’t hurt you to actually work for something. I mean, birth control isn’t exactly a life saving medication, like high blood pressure pills or insulin is it, so why should we, the taxpayers and insurance premium payers, have to pay for it?

  • It’s simple really. If you don’t like what is on TV, don’t watch it. I gave up my satellite TV over a year ago because it no longer fit into my budget. Best decision i ever made. I don’t miss it one bit (except football). You can get news from the internet and paper. Cancelling your satellite or cable and getting rid of your tv is the ultimate boycott against hollyweird.

  • DesertRose, you wanted a woman’s voice, well here you go. As a devout Catholic (I hold a weekly adoration hour and i teach high school religion as well as attend Church) i must say that your comments struck me as very anti-Catholic. It doesn’t matter what religion one is, if the President can do this to the Catholics in an election year, what will he do to others if he gets re-elected? (i heard that from someone else but it is a valid point). If Catholics are FORCED to pay for “something” for “someone else”, and that “something” goes against our beliefs, we have lost our freedom to practice our religion. As to your statement about “a woman’s freedom to choose when she has a family and how big it is“ she does have that choice and as the ”devout Catholic” that you claim to be, you should know it is called natural family planning. As a “devout Catholic” you should also know that the Church teaches that contraception is wrong, as is abortion and we should not be forced to provide them in any way, shape, or form. And no, i do not use them. And since i am single, i am also celibate. Not that you needed to know, but i wanted you to know i follow and practice the Church’s teachings. If you proclaim to be a devout Catholic, you should be OUTRAGED at this, not only because we will be forced to pay for someone else’s stuff, but also because, if it continues, we will no longer be able to practice our religion. And if they take that, what else will they take fro

  • “He’s our president. He represents all the United States.” NO Hilary he does NOT represent all of America. He does not represent me or what i believe and he doesn’t represent the beliefs of most of the people i know or come into contact with (and i meet a lot of people as a waitress). Yes, they do need to pay attention to what all the candidates are saying because they represent a good portion of Americans and our beliefs. Wow. November can’t get here soon enough….

  • Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, both call themselves Catholic, and yet both support pro-choice legislation, which goes directly against the Catholic church’s pro-life teachings. they should be excommunicated

  • to Mycomet123, calm down. this letter did not come from the Pope, it came from a bishop in Michigan. Maybe he didn’t get it to your local bishop. It was not read at mass i attended either. And it wasn’t mandatory that it be read. You are reading it here, so now CALMLY take it to your parish priest and ask if he has seen it. If not, there is your answer as to why it wasn’t read in church. Don‘t assume that just because you didn’t hear it in church that your pastor is doing something wrong. We must fight this attack on our Catholic hospitals and other institutions, but you can’t get hysterical about it, because that will lead to irrational acts. Instead, talk to your pastor, pray, and write to your congressmen. this last part is so very important because they are the ones that can change it. Peace be with you.
