Home Birth Advocate Dies After Her Own Home Delivery
February 2, 2012 at 1:18am
Take a look at RLMEALS’ post directly above yours (assuming you’re reading latest entries first). I think home birthing is an understandably attractive option for many women. And it has no bearing whatsoever on the Bridezilla phenomenon, lol. That’s a separate problem.
Besides, what the heck is wrong with a natural birth? My own mother birthed three healthy babies, and the last one had to be a c-section. She’s got a humongous scar from it, which still hurts her sometimes. They sewed her up wrong, I kid you not. That’s major surgery, too. I mean…sheesh, if you can do it au naturelle, then go for it, I say.
And inducing labor? What the heck’s up with that? If you don’t absolutely need a drug, why the heck would you be introducing it both to your system and to the fetus? I can understand people being concerned with the sheer number of “pill popping” solutions doctors readily offer. Sometimes a little pain is better then webbed feet for the baby down the road.
And I say that very seriously: my own mother was prescribed a drug to help with nausea while pregnant with me- she took it only in half doses, and quit taking it at all after the first few tries. Guess what? Turns out that drug causes flipper babies, and has since been banned. Phew! Good thing she hates taking pills! (Can’t remember the name of the drug right now. >_<;)
Radio Host Loses It With Female GOP Candidate: ‘Get Your Stupid A**’ Out & I‘m Scared Your ’Whiteness’ Might Rub Off on Me
February 2, 2012 at 12:51am
If you have experienced every politician failing to give a straight answer, then maybe you should stop letting it make you angry. It’s expected by now, ne? Why let it effect you?
In my opinion, her facebook response sums him up really well. No respect. And he’s bigger, and a guy, and feels like he can bully and verbally abuse her all day long. That’s what is truly offensive here, in my opinion. Not answering a question “straight on” is absolutely in NO way comparable to the lack of respect and decency that he demonstrated with his verbal tirade of abuse.
Sorry, it just seems like you skimmed right over the elephant in the room, so to speak.

There is a serious undercurrent of fear, when you get in an argument with someone that much bigger than you- and don‘t think he didn’t know what he was doing, the creep! When a man screams and yells at a woman like that- because believe me, there’s the unspoken statement that if it came down to it he could put her lights out- he is exhibiting the fact that he believes might makes right. He doesn’t need to listen, doesn’t need to be respectful- because he can beat your face in!
What a CREEP. I think her facebook page summed him up extremely well. He ought to be ashamed.
‘A Significant Victory’: Atheists Lose Battle Over Jesus Statue Atop Montana Mountain
January 31, 2012 at 11:00pm
I don‘t understand why these guys can’t just accept religious stuff as part of the culture, at the very least. Sheesh.
This is a huge, disturbing (because it’s serious instead of a joke) case of “I reject your reality and substitute my own”. Honestly, I’d guess this organization is run by devoted communists who use atheism as a tool for attacking our culture.
I’d say that was a conspiracy theory, but…neh. It’s really not.
Low IQ? Socially Conservative? You Might Be Prejudiced, Study Says

LOL!
Low IQ? Socially Conservative? You Might Be Prejudiced, Study Says
January 28, 2012 at 8:19pm
First of all…LOL!
One question they asked in this study was about “obeying authority”. That makes me wonder: if you define this as conservative and therefore old-school and far too traditional, then perhaps you (the people who ran this study) don’t believe emphasis should be placed on paying attention in class, or being held responsible for how you behave in school. I mean, that would be teaching respect for authority! lol.
Based on the few (all three) examples of the questions asked in this study, it sounds to me like they have a very weird view of “social conservative”. They sound drastically, incredibly far left to me. I mean, who would deem the opinion that “mum having a full time job takes away from the quality of life for the children at home” as a distinctly conservative point of view? Generally speaking, this is sheer common sense: when there isn’t a full time parent at home, the kid does suffer.
Take home-schooling, for example: you can‘t do it if you’re at work all day. Thus you must put your child into public school, where they may fall prey to ridiculous Canadian studies. Sheesh.
Glenn should look into the details of this study; I for one am curious about the people behind it, the pool of participants used, all the questions asked, how IQ was determined- in short, its credibility. I‘m wondering if there aren’t a few global warming-esque scientists ala East Anglia involved in this. lol.
Might ‘Narnia’ Actor Liam Neeson Really Convert From Catholicism to Islam?
January 27, 2012 at 3:14pm
I commend Mr. Neeson for really studying God and religion. Why is it a sin to so many people to recognize the presence of God across the globe, in many forms and faces? We are all children of God, right? This is a theme that runs through all the major religions of the world, not just Christianity. It sounds to me like Mr. Liam Neeson is a true seeker, and wishes to grow closer to God. He saw some positive qualities in Islam while working in a predominantly Islamic country, and decided to comment, that’s all.
Kudos to him for having God in his heart. It’s right to have questions and seek answers, especially when a close loved one passes. Who doesn’t want to have a truly personal relationship with God? I think he genuinely seeks this, and seeks to find Truth, hidden in different forms in all the religions of the world. This does not have to detract from his Christianity at all. It only strengthens it, in my opinion, because the truth Christ gave us is echoed and supported through other true religions of the world.
To people here who think “Islam is evil” etcetera: I believe the real strife with most religions arises from gross misinterpretation of the holy scriptures, be it the Bible, the Quoran, the Bhagavad Gita, etc. Look at the Spanish Inquisition- there were people who decided Christianity must be “evil” at that time, too. “Join our religion or die” is never a good approach, lol. The middle east will change in time.
Campus Shock: Michigan Professor Actually Takes Nude Pictures…With Students
November 24, 2011 at 9:10pm
And one more quick thing. This guy, how is he taking the photographs? Does he set up the camera ahead of time to take a set of photos, then picks from the set the one he best likes? (That’s most likely- otherwise how could he claim credit? He‘s simply be a model in someone else’s photo, if there was someone else taking the shot. Period. Even if he “designed” the scene.)
Secondly, he is basing these photos off of paintings dreamed up by other famous people who took a bunch of color, a canvas, and created something from nothing. All he’s doing is “re-creating” that with photography! Other people have done this! And you know what, it’s largely uninteresting and certainly not worthy of going into a museum anyplace.
He is basing his ideas largely on others’ work. Sheesh! Think of a model for the Mona Lisa. Sure, it would be a curiosity. But it wouldn’t be the Mona Lisa. But hey! What if she were naked? The naked Mona Lisa! And a self portrait! That’s deep! Or not.
This guy isn’t the best out there, by far. Photography, as a medium, has a heck of a lot to offer, and this guy isn’t offering it. Instead, he’s working through his own midlife crisis by abusing his power as a mentor/teacher over gullible kids barely out of their teens. I can’t “appreciate” something that is so very tainted by a person’s own warped ego.
No one can ever remove themselves from anything creative they do- but this guy is obviously the reincarnation of Narci

I’m an artist. “Art is about the trees.” Weeeelll…don‘t you think that’s a tad limiting?
Just like this professor obviously feels it‘s a tad limiting to think that there’s anything wrong with getting half naked and having your photo taken with completely naked students 30-plus years your junior.
Call me old fashioned, but sorry…you’re missing the forest for the trees! And I know ALL about artistic snobbery.
I once had to sit through a performance of a woman walking across stage naked, with images dozens of women being raped (historical footage, what?!) playing across her body.
It was art. It was meaningful. It was beautiful.
No. It was tasteless, it was offensive, and it was a cheep thrill for the men in the audience. Being a woman who has been surrounded by males in all of my courses in college which focused in on my degree, I feel justified in commenting on that. I’m not saying they were bad guys- but dude, they were certainly eager to defend that piece of crud “performance art”.
Ever heard of 4 minutes 51 seconds? (Or whatever, can’t remember- it’s where the audience just sits waiting for a performance for that length of time, and is then informed that their own chatter WAS the performance.) Then there’s “The Blank Canvas”. You can guess what that one is.
Here’s my opinion: those things aren’t art. They may be a commentary, they may be a social experiment, or something like that- but it’s not art.

You’re missing the obvious- missing the forest for the trees.
He uses himself in all of these photos. This is about him, narcissism is at the core here, it’s all tainted by his own need to insert himself into these scenes. If this wasn’t done using students he knew from previous classes taught, it might not bug me so much, but there IS a sense of coercion here, to me. Many of these people simply look uncomfortable, to my eye.
Many people here, I’m sure, could make commentary on the deeper meaning inherent, etc, but the underlying facts are hard to ignore: teacher with nude students, always him as the center of the work. That’s creepy.
