  • I understand people’s frustration with the seeming injustice of treating some victims differently than others during Katrina but as one who volunteered at the astrodome I can tell you it was not like what was being reported. Hundred of elderly, sick people who were in shock and couldn’t even get to the bathroom, the Norwalk virus was rampant, single mothers crying and desperate because they could not find their children and had no phones, scared, panicked people and there was very little in the way of organization to help these people except for the medical station where Dr.s and nurses were dropping like flies from illness. I won’t even begin with the lack of organization from the RC. The city of Houston and the people of Houston were incredibly generous in supplying clothing, and housing for these poor souls. And with like all disasters it takes a while for services to trickle down to the masses. The debit cards were justified to get people away from the dome and into housing and food before more chaos ensued. Sure there were a few gang members roaming around but most of the people were truly traumatized from what they had been through. As far as 9/11 I agree with you and when this reality finally takes hold in the consciousness of the country there will be so many other crisis’ happening that justice for that crime will have to wait until a later time.

  • Still stuck in the left/right paradigm. Oh well, go team go!!! Wish I knew who I was rooting for.

  • Why does Glen keep passing himself off as a prophet. Anyone with a brain could have predicted this.
and we have known the factors all along. 1. huge unemployed angry youth. 2. severe repression 3. lack of respect by populace for government 4. martyrs 5. large natural resources 6 strategic location 7 poverty 8 international media. This has been brewing for a long time and we should act surprised. This is why I quit watching Glen because he has dumbed down his program and panders to the uninformed.

  • Most of the people commenting here are just as narrow minded as the people they oppose. When are you going to figure it out that DIVIDE AND CONQUER has been the strategy for many a despot. Grow up and open your eyes.

  • I think this is a provocation to try and rehash the past. I respect the right to fly the confederate flag but not this piece of trash. As someone whose great grandfather fought in the War of the Rebellion in a Missouri regiment and lost 4 brothers 2 on the battlefield, 1 in prison and 1 from disease I still have empathy for those who were convinced of the legitimacy of their cause. Anyone who does not have roots back to this time period should just keep their nose out of it and quit trying to divide the people of this country. Once Lee surrendered people on both sides were tired of the slaughter and one of The “gray ghost’s” Mosby’s men gave up John Wilkes Booth to the manhunters. This artist should be shunned.

    Say something useful.

  • This analogy to the Nazi’s is getting really old. I am old enough to remember Playhouse 90 when I was a small child and a gripping story about the Holocaust. I have to admit that it worked as my empathy factor is very high. But after 53 years of this guilt by association I am a little jaded about this subject. It is almost like certain Southeners who can’t let go of the bitterness from the War of the Rebellion. We know who has a very close relationship with Turkey and the use of the “Young Turk” is not impressive. But then maybe MSNBC knows more about PR than I do.

  • You know I hate to bring this up but after her husband committed suicide and her seemingly callous attitude toward this I could never watch her again. But you know what they say “good people die young.” Joan will live forever.

  • Maybe glen should just produce a cartoon…If Jon Leibowitz, Sasha Baron Cohen, South Park, Family Guy and the Simpsons can be racist with impunity then maybe we should write new standards. As I have said before and will say again, European Americans live under a double standard and no matter when we came to this country or what our ancestors participated in we will be saddled with collective guilt as long as the lawless media has its way.

  • I actually like Michael Moore. I think he has done much to expose injustice and I think he is well meaning and has a big heart. But I do not think his talent in filmmaking reflect his ability to reason and problem solve and that may be the result of a poor educational system in the community where he grew up. He has also sort of painted himself into a corner and probably because of poor self esteem he is reluctant to say anything that does not reflect the ultra liberal line. He may also have a martyr complex. That I think comes from his religious background. I just wish he would stick to making movies and stay off the talk circuit because he keeps sticking his foot in his mouth.
